Holiday Rental House
Stay in a former Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage at Noss Head in the North of Scotland. Noss Head is a working lighthouse, much loved by local walkers and visting bird-watchers alike. The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage s one of several buildings in the compound. The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage was redecorated throughout in 2018 and is full of light in the summer and warm and cosy in the winter. It was built about 60 years ago as a separate family home for the Principal Lightkeeper. It is self-contained with parking outside. The compound is also home to Noss Head lighthouse itself, our neighbours in the Keeper’s Cabin next door and in the 19th Century cottage by the Lighthouse. ...Stay in a former Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage at Noss Head in the North of Scotland. Only 2 hours or so away from Inverness, within striking distance of John O'Groats. An ideal base to meet those doing a Lands End to John O'Groats challenge. Helps that the owners are lovely too.

About the neighbourhood
If you love wild Scotland, go on wildlife tours and maybe see dolphins or orca, or just go outside the cottage to see our wonderful sea-birds. Like visiting stately homes and castles? Explore Castle Sinclair Girnigoe on foot from the cottage, or visit the Queen Mother’s home at the Castle of Mey. Be sure to visit our standing stones and brochs. If your family came from here, visit Whaligoe steps and the heritage centres at Castletown, Thurso and Wick. The Dunbeath Heritage Centre houses the Sinclair Clan library. There are distilleries a-plenty, Old Pulteney in Wick, Wolfburn in Thurso and Rock Rose gin in Dunnet Bay. There's fine dining at Ackergill Tower and McKays in Wick.
Getting around
It's easiest to get around by car, though Noss Head is great for walkers or cyclists too. The nearest bus service is in Staxigoe, two miles away, and there are also long distance and local buses in Wick. Orkney is just an hour away by ferry, and you can book a tour of Orkney via the John o'Groats service, or book your car onto the Pentland Ferry at Gills Bay.
