Lovely location right by the sea. Good for walks by the coast and not far to get to local attractions at Dunnet Head and Dunkersley Stacks. We will look forward to coming again.

About the neighbourhood
The area is very unspoilt and is known as the northern highlands. The county of Caithness has a very interesting history and was part of the Norse kingdom until the 15th Century when it became part of Scotland. The place names reflect this unique heritage. Caithness is known as the flow country with miles of unspoilt peat marshes where rare wildlife thrive in abundance. You can learn more about the geography and history of the area at the excellent 'Caithness Horizons' museum in Thurso. In a similar vein there is the Wick Heritage museum which takes you back to the herring fishing hey-day of the area in the late 19th century.
How to get there
By car you travel up the A9 to Caithness. It's a fantastic journey north through the heart of the highlands. Beyond Inverness the road begins to hug the east coast and there are some fantastic views to enjoy as you drive northwards through the villages of Dornoch with it's cathedral, Golspie and Dunbeath. The train journey north beyond Inverness is equally interesting with some great vistas over the unspoilt northern highlands. There are plenty of trains from the south to Inverness. You then need to change for the journey north to Thurso. You can then catch a taxi to Scarfskerry. By air you have the choice of flying to Inverness and then hiring a car or getting a train or bus north. The other option is to fly to Wick via Edinburgh or Aberdeen. This is a bit pricier than Inverness but gets you closer.
