The Old Tea Shop Self catering cottage is a converted Sweet Shop[/Tea Room, comfortably sleeping 4 people and furnished in a traditional style. Wood-fired Hot Tub available (Extra charge) we must be notified day before arrival, the hot tub will be lit and ready for your use) It boasts large open plan living/kitchen area, wood burning stove, oil-fired Rayburn, Belfast sink, Welsh Dresser. Large leather sofa, Flat screen 3D TV, Wi Games Console. Plenty of parking and enclosed garden to rear. THe front courtyard has old-fashioned lamp posts and surrounded by large mature fir trees. The 2 bedrooms have exposed beams, rustic style furnishings. The cottage is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful county of Caithness, ideal for outdoor enthusiasts for cycling, walking, fishing, birdwatching. The cottage is around 1 mile from the coast and the long sandy beach at Dunnet is approximately 3 miles away. It is an ideal stopover for people visiting the Orkney Islands and only a 15 minute drive to Gills Berry for the Ferry. Children over 10 years of age are welcome, pets welcome. The cottage is in a very rural area and a car is recommended. Only 11 miles from John O Groats. Please note the nearest shop is 5 miles, nearest hotel for meals is 1 mile and 3 miles.More

Our family were so looking forward to our stay here. Arrived to no host, couldn't get in. Eventually host arrived and gave a guided tour of property. We felt a little put off by the numerous 'notes/signs' on walls..whether stating charges for things or rules...More

How to get there
The Old Tea Shop is around 11 miles from Thurso on the main A836 John O-Groats Road. Do not follow sat nav is this will not take you directly there. Approximately 3 miles after you go through Dunnet you will see a sign for Scarfskerry on the right, then a sign on the left for Celtic Firs, The Old Tea Shop is located inside the drive. Do not turn down the road to Scarfskerry.
