Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

This was the third and fourth times we had stayed at Hilary’s cabin. We booked 2 days before moving on to St Combs for a week to break a really long journey from Norfolk. This cabin is so comfortable and the bed is absolutely massive and we both sleep so well as it is so peaceful and dark. Hilary always gives you a lovely welcome and she always goes the extra mile to provide everything you need. We totally recommend this place to anyone who has a dog as there are plenty of places to walk and enjoy. I am sure we will return again soon.

This is a perfect cabin for a couple with a dog. A studio cabin, but with plenty of room to move around. The bed is massive and exceptionally comfortable, bathroom spotless and modern. Ideally located to explore the Scottish Borders and a lovely loch on the doorstep. Can't leave this review without mentioning the most wonderful host - Daniel the Spaniel - who is an absolute delight! Thank you Hilary, we will be back!

Found this very convenient as we had a dog so was able to cook an evening meal and not leave the animal in a strange place while went out to eat. There was a lovely walk around Hilary’s private loch which was good for all of us after doing a long journey. A very quiet place in a nice setting.

My partner and I stayed at Cedar Cabin for one night after a long car journey. Hilary was really welcoming! There was space to walk the dogs (including a pond) and the cabin had everything we needed. It was a great stay, thank you very much Hilary!

I am very glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you will return some day - perhaps for more than one night to see more of the Borders. Hilary

Hilary could not be more accommodating, always available for wee quieres. Lovely relaxing break in tranquil area, was well needed. Will definitely be back early next year. Brilliant value for money, breakfast essentials available in kitchen with few added extras meant we didn't have to run to the shops & could instantly relax.Pictures of the area do not do it justice just beautiful!

Cannot say enough about how accomodating and friendly Hilary is. From the last minute request to arrive a day earlier than planned to giving us so much local knowledge/tips she is a delight as a hostess. Accomodation is comfy and well thought out, breakfast essentials supplied on arrival with tea & coffee along with an enthusiastic greeting from Daniel the Spaniel every time we met him. Felt right at home from the second we arrived and didnt want to leave. Already planning our next break here.

I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, and was sorry not to be there to say goodbye - there was a sheep crisis to attend to! I look forward to seeing you all again sometime. Hilary (and Daniel-the-Spaniel)

Hilary welcomed us warmly on arrival after a long and tiring journey. The cabin was very well appointed and had all you needed for your stay and more. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and we slept well. There lots of maps for us to use to get around the locality. We had amazing time and felt truly spoilt. Will definitely be back. Overall an excellent restful retreat.
