Enjoyed our stay here, great setting, short easy walk to village and restaurants. Good comfortable, and clean. Plenty space to relax, and eat together, good facilities overall. Had a lovely wee family holiday at Rockwood Cottage, Grasmere in the lake district. Cottage was extremely well kitted out for all age ranges. Rockwood cottage is spacious and cosy, retaining traditional features particularly the mellow pine and oak beams. The house is in two linked parts: the main house and an annexe. The main house offers a farmhouse kitchen with open plan dining area with an old stone fireplace with wood burning stove.

The main lounge offers comfortable furniture to relax in after a long walk, (TV, DVD, CD) with childrens den off. Upstairs offers 4 bedrooms (3 doubles, 1 twin) and a family bathroom. The annexe offers 2 downstairs bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin) useful for older guests, as well as large lounge (TV DVD), kitchen and shower room/wc. There is parking for 3 medium sized cars in the drive.

3 night weekend breaks are Friday to Monday; Midweek breaks are 3 nights during Monday to Friday. Weekend breaks are subject to availability only 3 months before the start date. Prices include electricity and gas for central heating, linen, professional clean before and after your stay, logs for the woodburning stove, but exclude personal towels. We welcome pets as well, but charge an additional £20 per pet per week to cover the extra costs of cleaning.

Grasmere offers Dove Cottage (home of WW) and the Wordsworth Museum, a old Norman Church, traditional Cumbrian Sports festivals, fantastic walks in the hills, small pubs and restaurants.

Within 10 miles you will find old slate mines (still working) old stately homes, higgledy-piggledy Hawkshead, ancient Roman ruins, exciting activities for the kids in Grisedale Forest - so much to do and so little time!

Directions by Road: Proceeding from Junction 36 of the M6 Motorway, follow the A591, (in Ings Village, just by the speed camera, you will pass a great pub, the Watermill, for a late lunch stop) through the outskirts of Windermere, following the signposts towards Ambleside. (By Windermere train station, you will pass Booths Supermarket, which is the biggest and best in the Lake District, if you need to stop to buy some food). Drive through Ambleside, signposted Grasmere.
