We stayed at the Hayloft as a family of 4 (having 2 boys aged 4 and 7) and we were very pleased with our choice. The boys loved their "holiday home" and frequently wanted to return each day above doing other activities whilst we were out exploring. The hosts Richard and Lindsay are very welcoming and clearly take pride and care in managing their very thoughtfully designed holiday rental. The Hayloft is immaculate, comfortable and every detail/need seems to have been considered with lots of instructions and information available. The location was an ideal central base to explore the local towns and sights in north Kent, with everywhere we visited being within 30 minutes drive (Whitstable, Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Deal, Canterbury). We had a food delivery on arrival that we arranged for our week's stay, but did eat out at the local Prince of Wales pub in Hoath where we really enjoyed the food. We visited Wildwood animal attraction near chislet/Herne bay which we also enjoyed, although please don't let the entrance to the attraction put you off. We visited stone bay beach at Broadstairs for a full day and the boys enjoyed the mix of sand, rock pooling for crabs and access to the sea followed by a lovely fish and chips at the Mermaid. We visited Chatham Dockyard on our journey to the Hayloft (around 1 hour away) to break up the trip and this was a memorable place to visit, you get a year's pass with your ticket and could easily spend an entire day at this attraction. As a first visit to north Kent for a holiday, we left after 7 full days of activities feeling like there was more to see and do which is always a nice feeling to have about an area. The Hayloft is highly recommended and should we revisit the area, we would most certainly look to book again for our stay.

The best week at The Hayloft in Chislet, Canterbury
Our 3-generational family have just had the best week at The Hayloft in Chislet near Canterbury. This converted barn is extremely spacious yet cosy, with a wood burning stove and huge corner sofas for movie watching in the evening. The large kitchen table can easily seat six, and every requirement is catered for with plenty of crockery, comfy beds and three showers. There is a small garden where we sat and enjoyed a glass of wine in the evenings. The barn is situated in a very quiet spot with plenty of walks nearby, yet is handy for trips into Canterbury itself and various Kent seaside towns. Our hosts, Richard and Lindsay, were very friendly and provided a wealth of local information. We will certainly be returning.

Country bliss
We have just returned from the perfect week stay at idyllic hay loft. The house was generously proportioned for 6 and bedrooms so comfortable. The local village pubs were great for sundowners or full meals. I swam every morning at the close bye fordwich river and walked every evening on local footpaths through the beautiful Kent country side. The garden was ideal for BBQs and games of boule. It’s perfectly central so we did day drips to Canterbury for cricket, Whitstable for seafood and the Eurostar to France. The hosts were welcoming and very gracious. We will return soon …

A fabulous place to stay……
We first stayed at the Hayloft in 2013 and have returned many times since then. It is an absolutely lovely cottage with everything you will need for a very comfortable stay. It is close to Canterbury but also the seaside at Whitstable which is a charming town with fantastic fish and chips! We thoroughly recommend the Hayloft!

Great base for a family holiday
We went with our eight and ten year olds and absolutely loved everything about it. Under an hour and a half from Gatwick. The kids loved the historic city of Canterbury and the Roman museum was a big hit with us all. The park was stunning with a great playground. We visited Quex Park twice because they loved the crazy golf and awesome playground👌 . The owners of the Hayloft Lindsay and Richard were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us which made the trip really special. We'll definitely be back to beautiful Kent.

Great space!
The weather was grim, as it should be in January, so we were extra grateful for the generous, comfortable and beautiful space that we could enjoy for a week. If you need home comforts they're all there. Not a single one missing. We could even welcome family for a day to celebrated a 40th birthday. When I think of The Hayloft the first word that comes to mind is 'generous'. Plenty of firewood for a gorgeous wood-burning stove, comfortable seating in the living-room, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, great showers, spacious bedrooms. I could go on. Thank you, Richard and Lindsay!

Another Brilliant Stay at The Hayloft
Absolutely wonderful accommodation, we return every December to kick off our Christmas celebrations with family. The Hayloft has literally everything you need for a cosy time together, it's immaculately clean , very comfortable, good WiFi and Netflix, nice location , many places to visit within a short distance. This time we went to Rochester Christmas Market .... The Dickens weekend, it was an excellent atmosphere!! We also popped to Broadstairs , another beautiful place to visit. Richard is very friendly and on hand if there's any problems - not that we've ever had any!!! Can't wait to go back next year!!!

Great attention to detail
This was a fantastic location just outside Canterbury. House was very well presented, clean and even decorated for Christmas. Accommodation is very flexible with 3 large bedrooms and 3 shower/washrooms. Owners clearly pay a lot attention to details, with a well organised kitchen, log burner and other household facilities all well prepared and clearly displayed. One of the best cottages I have stayed in. Excellent

Beautiful Cosy Accommodation
This is our 3rd visit to the Hayloft and it never disappoints. It's a beautiful accommodation, and cleanliness is 5star. It's immaculate. We just can't fault it. Perfect location for a summer holiday or a cosy winter get a away visiting Xmas markets. The Hayloft has everything you could possibly need for a relaxed stay, the Christmas decorations are a lovely touch and just add to the cosiness this time of year. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Richard & Lyndsey. (My little boy broke his toy within 5 mins of arriving and they superglued it back together for him) We will definitely be returning next year. A really great place to stay and excellent location for day trips out.
