Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

This is our 3rd visit to the Hayloft and it never disappoints. It's a beautiful accommodation, and cleanliness is 5star. It's immaculate. We just can't fault it. Perfect location for a summer holiday or a cosy winter get a away visiting Xmas markets. The Hayloft has everything you could possibly need for a relaxed stay, the Christmas decorations are a lovely touch and just add to the cosiness this time of year. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Richard & Lyndsey. (My little boy broke his toy within 5 mins of arriving and they superglued it back together for him) We will definitely be returning next year. A really great place to stay and excellent location for day trips out.

Perfect hosts, so accommodating for all needs. If you think you may need something in this house ranging from a particular cooking utensil to a disabled shower seat, just look and it’s there in a cupboard! It is so well stocked. The second you walk in the door the house gives you a hug and says throw a log on the fire, tuck up with a blanket and cook up a storm in that perfect kitchen. There are cosy nooks and plenty of games, with space enough for privacy. There is ground floor access to all rooms for a disabled member to get everywhere including around the large dining table. Good access to whitstable and Herne bay for beaches and shopping. We would definitely return.

The Hayloft is a lovely holiday home from home with great space, excellent facilities and really helpful hosts. It is well equipped and has lots of room. We were 3 generations and the spacing of the rooms etc was great for this. Richard and Lindsay were lovely hosts, suggesting day trips and replying to emails helpfully and in good time. A really lovely place.

I booked a mini break away with my family to refresh and reconnect and the Hayloft helped us do that. The barn is stunning, immaculate and comfortable. There is so much space, is well equipped and we felt instantly at ease on arrival. The location was perfect for exploring the nearby beaches and lovely and peaceful. I'd love to return again. Highly recommended!

We had a fabulous holiday (Monday to Saturday) which marked the first time we could meet up with our family for many months due to Covid restrictions. A lovely place to reconnect with each other and with nature. Super walks on the doorstep, Whitstable, Margate and Canterbury a short drive away. The hosts were delightful and very accommodating. Highly recommend and would love to go back in the future.

I can’t fault this property, the owners or the location. We thoroughly enjoyed our mini-break at The Hayloft. The house is immaculate and spacious; with every convenience you will need. It is set in a rural location on a quiet road with off street parking. The interior is large, plenty space for a family of 6 with 3 good sized bathrooms. There is a small garden to the rear with a large dining table in a corner spot which gets sunshine from mid-morning to late afternoon. Our 7 year old daughter loved being able to ride her bike on the country bridleways and on the Viking Trail which is only a short drive away. We highly recommend Whitstable, Broadstairs and Canterbury – all within easy reach. Lindsay & Richard were lovely friendly hosts with lots of good advice on places to visit and local eateries. We can’t wait to return.

A long weekend in this superbly comfortable, beautifully designed country home. An easy place to settle into, intelligently furnished (clean, comfortable, stylish), great beds, great kitchen - it really felt as if the owners had thought of everything. It's near to coast and city, whichever takes your fancy. We had a sophisticated Sunday lunch at the Fordwich Arms (fairly deep pockets needed), and a couple of evening visits (walking distance along a winding lane) for a beer and a cider or two at The Gate Inn in Chislet. I hope we'll stay here again. A real treat.

We are just back from another FANTASTIC long weekend at The Hayloft. This is a truly stunning property. Our previous visit was in 2014 and it’s just as good now as it was back then. Owners Robert & Lindsay are fab. Always on hand to answer any questions and we arrived to find a very decent bottle of red wine! Highly recommended. We shall definitely be visiting again and would urge others to book!!

We had a girls weekend at The Hayloft, with ages from 10 months to 77 and it was perfect for everyone. There’s a downstairs bedroom with wet room that is very convenient for older and less able-bodied people. The owners arrived to welcome us and saw we had a baby and couldn’t have been more helpful - they attached stair gates, put out a fire guard and rug and found a walker. They also had a cot and high chair available which we didn’t need. The house was fully equipped with everything we could have needed plus they had left us a bottle of wine and flowers. It was immaculately clean and very comfortable. There is a list of all the best local pubs, we visited the closest, The Gate, for Sunday lunch. Lots of lovely seaside towns within short driving distance too. We would all highly recommend this house.
