The Brighton Beach Hut is minutes from the best kept secret beach in Brighton and 20 mins into the city. Walk/cycle along the seafront to Hove without crossing a road, stopping off at the Marina first. The South Downs opposite the house provides wonderful walks. One small dog welcome, as are all! Clean and uncluttered with a retro feel, my apartment is a two-bedroomed flat with lots of garden and a patio for sunny breakfasts. The kitchen is new and fully-equipped with everything you need to cook a meal for 4. However, there is also a small BBQ/firepit for those warm evenings at home or at the beach. Off the kitchen are the bright and sunny bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has an original Victorian brass double bed and old Welsh wardrobe. Bedroom 2 has two large single beds with wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is a door into my house but it is locked at all times and may only be used in an emergency. All beds have new mattresses and bedding. The utility area has a washing machine, cleaning equipment, ironing board and iron, clothes dryer and hairdryer and ample room to store your belongings. Beyond this is the shower-room, small but perfectly formed. The large sitting-room looks onto the garden. There is a TV which is equipped with a streaming device for watching catch-up programmes, and a CD player. As the Hut is connected to my house, you may occasionally hear muffled voices or the radio but not late at night or too early in the morning, and we do aim to keep the noise down, especially if you have little ones that need an early night! Guest access: Once through the gate, you will walk past my back door to the separate entrance to the flat for which guests have sole access. You can pick up the keys from me next door or I can arrange a safe place for them to be left. Guest interaction: I am happy to help as I work from home so feel free to contact me by text/email or chat when I am working in the garden. However I am very aware of the need for privacy. Neighbourhood overview: This is a great part of Brighton & Hove - in the countryside but with all the amenities of the city just down the road. There are plenty of buses from the end of the road into town (or the other way to Eastbourne and Seven Sisters) and, if you time it right, the No 52 stops right outside the house. You can also spend the day on the beach at the end of the road. At low tide there are the rock pools, perfect for little kids - and big ones - while 2 hours either side of high tide is the best time for swimming. And afterwards, you can have cake and a hot drink at the cafe. Dogs are also allowed on this beach all year round, just clear up after them. The only downside to the beach are the steep steps - just be aware if you are very infirm or carrying heavy bikes. Rottingdean is the next village along, just a walk over Beacon Hill, with antique shops, tearooms and plenty of pubs. Best pub - The Queen Vic, best restaurant - Franks for delicious French bistro food. With all the parking restrictions in Brighton, this seems to be the only place to park for free these days. There is room for one car on the drive with others parking on the road. It's probably best to catch a bus into Brighton but just be aware that if you come back late (last bus from Brighton is 3am) the road from the bus stop on the South Coast Road is a little dark despite the street lighting. Getting around: Buses - the 52 & 57 near the house, or plenty of buses going along the seafront from the roundabout (27, 12,14). This is probably the best way to get into town to avoid the nightmare of parking. You will need to download the B&H Buses app to buy tickets online. Otherwise, get on your bikes and cycle for 20mins and you're there in the centre. The ride along the top is exhilarating especially if there's a strong wind, or go for the gentler option of the undercliff path (just note that you have to carry your bike down and back up the steep steps). You can cycle all the way along the seafront path to Shoreham without crossing a road. If you do, reward yourself with ice cream from Maroccos. Other things to note: This is amazing countryside to walk in but if you want to spend time in the city, I am happy to dog-sit for £15 9am-6pm. If you want to stay out later til midnight, that will be an extra £10.More
