It overlooks open countryside from every aspect, with views of vineyards from the lounge. It is part of a working farm, so it is possible that livestock will be grazing in the field behind the cottage on occasions throughout the year. About the neighbourhood
Bodiam is a small village boasting a magnificent castle with moat and grounds. Visitors on foot are welcome to wander through the grounds and around the castle and are usually admitted free to the many events that are held here throughout the year. However, there is a small charge to go into the castle itself. The River Rother runs through the village and in peak season a ferry operates from Bodiam Castle to Northiam. The castle is run by the National Trust and has a tea room and giftshop. The Castle Inn offers a warm welcome and serves a wide range of excellent food. The KESR station that is visible from the cottage hosts many events incuding The Hop Pickers Weekend. Visitors can also go from Bodiam to Tenterden by steam train. Tenterden is a charming old market town and offers a wide range of shops.
How to get there
By air: Fly to Gatwick Airport. Car hire available at Gatwick Airport. We strongly advise having a car as public transport is limited. By rail: Both Robertsbridge and Etchingham stations are within 5 miles of the property, with direct services from London (Charing Cross, Waterloo East and London Bridge). However, local transport is limited and use of a car is advisable. By sea: 90 mins from Dover car ferry and Folkestone EuroTunnel terminals.
