'Looney Dunes' is our own family holiday home - perfectly located right in the heart of the popular seaside resort of Camber Sands. Despite being just a moment's stroll from the famous 2-mile stretch of dune-lined sandy beach and its best bars and restaurants, the house enjoys peace and quiet even on the busiest of summer days. With a sunny south-facing back garden and views of the dunes from upstairs bedrooms, it really is a fabulous place to take a holiday.
Since we come on holiday here ourselves, the house is very well equipped. Pretty much everything you might need has been thought of. Since we come on holiday here ourselves, the house is very well equipped. Pretty much everything you might need has been thought of. In addition to the usual facilities that you might expect to find, you'll be in for a treat with original artworks, a whole wall of books in the living room (over 1,000 at the last count), a vintage Bang & Olufsen hifi system, a heap of board games, XBox360 (plus games) and loads of children's DVDs and movies to keep them entertained whilst you're enjoying a drink in the back garden - a total suntrap - watching the butterflies or the sun setting. The house is centrally heated throughout and enjoys a reliable superfast broadband connection through BT Infinity 2 at around 60 Mbps.
Looney Dunes has 3 bedrooms which sleep 4 adults and 2 children - one master bedroom with a double bed, another main bedroom arranged either as two singles or joined together as a king-size double and a kids' bedroom with 2 bunk beds. We can also put a small double sofa bed into the living room should you require. The two south-facing bedrooms enjoy views of the back garden and you can see across to the dunes. In the spacious family bathroom (no bath) there is a 2-person shower cubicle with power shower, much the best way to clean away all the fine sand that you bring back from the long day at the beach!
There is plenty of room downstairs too. The living room with French doors that open out onto the patio; a conservatory with dining table and chairs; a fully-equipped galley kitchen with separate larder; a downstairs WC and porch area for storage.
The gardens must be our favourite part of this property. The south-facing back garden is the proverbial stone's throw from the sand dunes. In it you'll find a patio with table, parasol and chairs and a flat lawn surrounded by shrubs and flowers on three sides (and populated by many species of butterfly throughout the long summer days). There is also a shed filled with garden chairs, games, buckets and spades, a windbreak for the beach, and a BBQ. The garden is fenced all around and is fully enclosed. A high privet hedge in the front garden provides privacy from the cul-de-sac (so no passing traffic) and creates a natural goal for any penalty shoot out! This garden is also very sunny and provides off-street parking for 2 cars (3 at a pinch).
Here are the main details about the property:
Enclosed entrance porch - for all your coats, shoes, wellies, buckets and spades...
Hallway - with 3 under stairs cupboards; one converted into an 'honesty' larder with freezer and microwave; one containing an iron, ironing board, clothes horse, Miele vacuum cleaner; and one crammed full of kid's toys, masses of Lego, etc...
Downstairs WC
Living Room - 3-seater sofa; armchair (or small sofa bed on request); rocking chair; original artworks; floor-to-ceiling bookshelves along the entire length of one wall with over 1,000 books; Xbox 360 with games; loads of adult and kids' DVDs; board games; 1970's B&O hifi system (turntable/tuner/tape deck) with smartphone connections that allow you to play your own music through our vintage floorstanding speakers; French doors that open out fully onto the patio area of the back garden...
Galley Kitchen - fridge, electric cooker with hob, grill and oven, extractor fan, washer-dryer, plenty of cupboards, toaster, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, milk frother, plenty of crockery, cutlery, glassware and cookware, plus food basics (herbs, spices, condiments, etc)...
Door to:
Conservatory - with dining table and chairs, highchair (on request), blinds, door to back garden...
Back Garden - south-facing and a real sun trap, with views of the tops of the sand dunes, totally enclosed, secure, safe, an oasis of peace and quiet even on the busiest of summer days; outdoor table and chairs for alfresco dining; barbecue; sun-loungers to help top up the tan; a shed full of beach paraphernalia like boules, buckets and spades, etc; and an outside tap too...

We were two families who managed to grab a weekend at Looney Dunes back in July (they were booked out for the whole summer). The house is so lovely and you can tell that Chris and Jen have thought of everything to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible.
From the welcome goodies, honesty cupboard to the incredibly comfortable beds, we were so happy to return there everyday and relax in the cosy living room.
Chris could not be more helpful prior to and during our stay, thank you to you both, we will certainly return to our "Camber home".

Great property and location
From the onset of arrival we felt very welcomed by Chris and Jenny with little touches of generosity and thoughtfulness such as home baked cookies, butter, milk; local juice, ale etc. The house itself was great with lots of games, books, toys; Lego etc; my children aged 8, 4 and 10 months were delighted. The garden was tidy and spacious with outside space for eating and a separate conservatory off a small kitchen which opened up the house. Chris and Jenny really went out of their way to have everything in place for us such as bath bath, changing bath, cot, high chair etc. The house itself was really clean and located perfectly 2 mins walk to the beach or straight over the sand dunes with an amazing view. Lots to do kayaking, boat rides windsurfing etc. Lovely local towns such as Rye and lots of national trust. Bodiam castle well worth a visit and Hastings was also lovely; nice little aquarium there too for the kids. Lovely country pubs with delicious food and most evenings we went to the beach again as it was so close and convenient. Generally I would have to say I’m not easy to please but this place was fantastic and a breath of fresh air! Chris and jenny were great hosts with everything organised perfectly with a perfect house and location. We would definitely come back!

Fantastic holiday house by the beach
We had a brilliant week at Looney Dunes - the house is really clean and well-equipped, and bigger than it looks in the photos. It is light and airy, and ideally located - the 2 minute walk to the beach was fantastic during a sunny week in which the traffic into Camber was backed up for miles!
The home-made bread and cookies were a delightful welcome. Breakfast at the Clam around the corner was luxurious although I think the teenagers preferred the burgers from the Rye Grill (around another corner!).
We enjoyed the mini-pool table, giant jenga, swingball, and board games. Having the conservatory, the living room, and the garden gave us space to spread out. There's plenty to do in the area; as well as Rye, we also visited Battle Abbey and Bodiam Castle.

Super house in a quiet but convenient location.
The house is very close to the sand dunes and beach in Camber. We appreciated the peaceful yet convenient location.
On arrival we were greeted by Chris who showed us around the house and pointed out where everything was situated in the home. Chris has been extremely friendly and helpful before, during and after our stay at Looney Dunes, nothing is too much trouble. I have to add that Chris’s attentiveness is NOT in any way intrusive.
The house is beautifully furnished and is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a holiday. My grandson even borrowed a bucket and spade, bats and ball and a sand scooter for the beach. We also enjoyed playing pool and swingball in the garden. When I say this house has every requirement for a brilliant holiday I really mean everything. There was a fabulous welcome pack of groceries, including homemade bread, jam and cookies, which were delicious and much more. The honesty cupboard is a fab idea as you have no need to worry if you forget anything.
All ages are certainly very well catered for, from small children to oldies, like ourselves. You can even bring along your four legged friend if you so wish.
If you like a beach holiday close to amenities then I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Looney Dunes, Camber. It is close to Rye, less than 10 minutes by car. It is also quite easy to visit other places in the South East, we particularly enjoyed visiting Canterbury.
We had a super two week holiday and would love to return again in the future.
From the four of us, thank you Chris for everything.

Looney Dunes, Camber
Great host Christopher who was very responsive in all areas of booking and local information as required. Very nicely furnished with all the home comforts for a weeks stay beside the seaside.
Local restaurants very close by and adjacent to the famous Camber Sands and their dunes.
Would highly recommend this property for a rental location.

Beautiful Home close to the beach
We had a wonderful week in this beautiful home. It's so very comfortable and well stocked. We enjoyed and fully used the 'honesty cupboard' which saved us a couple of shopping trips. The welcome package was much appreciated and more than we could have hoped for. Our kids enjoyed the selection of toys, games, books and movies. We also made great use of the vinyl collection and hi-fi system, which my husband loved. The owners have thought of everything that a family might need. We've rented several houses in Camber over the years and this really is the best of the bunch. The owners are so very helpful and welcoming. We'll definitely return to this very comfy home.

Wirklich sehr empfehlenswert!

We'll be back!
We arrived at the most beautiful holiday home anyone could imagine. Perfectly equipped with everything you could wish for (including an "honesty larder") we felt at home immediately. The bedrooms are spacious and nicely decorated, everything was very neat and tidy, and they even had toys for our little son to play with. The living room has a huge collection of books where I am sure everybody will find at least one book to their taste, the same is true for the music collection. Absolutely gorgeous. Attached to the kitchen there is a conservatory, so you can even sit "outside" even if the weather is not that nice.
The dunes are literally just around the corner. Within minutes you can get to the most lovely sandy beach. We did a lot of walking along the beach, and were practically spending most of our time there as we were very lucky with the weather.
There are several shops nearby and if you are planning on doing the extensive shopping tour - Rye is just a 10 minutes drive away.
This is certainly a place we would like to come back to. Thank you Chris, for everything you have done to make this holiday a special one!
