The Annex is part of The Old Posthouse , built circa 1640 and is found just on the edge of an AONB at Lower Weare in Axbridge providing some fantastic walks from the front door. The Old Posthouse Annex is situated on the A38 but provides a comfortable suntrap setting with a magnificent backdrop of Crooks Peak and surrounding area. There are local pubs within walking distance , The Lamb ( four doors away!) , The New Inn and The White Hart within a mile and then you have Axbridge Square with more!! ( still within walking distance , just a little longer, around 1.5miles). The Old Posthouse Annex has a kitchen and lounge area with stairs to the bedroom and bathroom ( having both shower and bath facilities). The bedroom is situated at the back of the Annex and views can be seen of Crooks Peak ...The Annex is part of The Old Posthouse , built circa 1640 and is found just on the edge of an AONB at Lower Weare in Axbridge providing some fantastic walks from the front door. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

What can I say.? It was perfect for us. Meeting up with my Brother from America, who I haven't seen for 3 years. We have two doggies and didn't want the constraints of a hotel or guest house. Lovely little yard out back for BBQ and drinks etc. The cottage was immaculately clean and well equipped for all we needed. The bonus for me was the tower fan in the bedroom. Much needed 🤣🤣 The owners live next door are very friendly but don't infringe on your privacy . WE will most certainly be back. Thank you Kenny and Jo xxx

Lovely little place. Ideal for a couple and in an area within east reach of all Somerset has to offer. Situated on the relatively busy A38, there is some road noise but it didn’t affect our holiday.

Very comfortable, warm and cosy. Everything was perfect, and everything worked (including the central heating). Lovely surroundings, an area of outstanding natural beauty, great walks almost from the doorstep. Also, a wonderful stay for our two little dogs.

We stayed here recently with our pup and the annex is the perfect location for some country walks right from the doorstep! And also great access to local places nothing is really that far away! The accommodation was clean and cosy, only issue was with it being on a road the traffic noise during the night was a little loud for light sleepers if you don’t have ear plugs

Great accommodation set in easy access to Cheddar Gorge, the Mendips, Somerset levels. The accommodation is of a really high standard and attention to detail is throughout the rooms. Good pubs close by and some great walking too. Axbridge is close by and worth a look. Highly recommended.

My husband, myself & our rather large dog stayed here for a week at the end of July. The cottage was perfect. Lovely, cosy & exactly what we needed. Location is fantastic. Cheddar is 3 miles away & the Gorge will take your breath away. Glastonbury & Wells are within 30 mins drive. The beach is also close. The property owners live Nextdoor & are very helpful & friendly but not in your face. They are more than happy to advise on places to visit & directions. There are 2 lovely pubs, The White Hart & The New Inn are within walking distance @ a village called Cross. The road to the pubs (The old coach road) is very pretty. Stunning views of the Mendips. The food at the New Inn was lovely - we ate there a number of times during our stay. Axbridge is just over a mile away & is in walking distance through the fields. This is also worth a visit. All in all, we loved our little holiday & will return to the beautiful Somerset & fingers crossed to this lovely cottage.

We stayed at the Annex for 3 nights. Booking was a breeze, cottage was a delight. Very quaint, compact and beautifully decorated. It is located on a busy main road but this didn’t interfere or bother us at all. There is a parking spot right outside the front door. The Lamb is a few doors down with good wholesome food, so we were both able to have a drink and not worry about driving! Very good central location for some fabulous outings. We went to the beautiful Axbridge for brunch every day, Ralf the dog got a free sausage for his breakfast at the Almshouse which had a stunning little courtyard. We had a wonderful day at nearby Wells and the Cathedral. So much to see and do that we would love to go back and would definitely try to book in at the Annex again. Many thanks to Kenny and Jo for having us

Getting around
A car is recommended although there are many walks from the front door where you will not need a car. Cheddar is under 5 miles, Weston-Super-Mare is only 13 miles , Wells 11 miles, Bristol 19 miles and Bath 29 miles. There is a bus link to Wells and Weston. And a Falcon coach that joins Plymouth and Bristol that is accessible via the A38 (just ask for details or check Falcon website) all are easy to access via the A38.
