Condo/Apartment
This third floor apartment is accessed via easy stairs from the communal hallway in this attractive block built on Shoreham Beach in 2000. It sits on the south bank of the River Adur which links into Shoreham Harbour. Occasional coastal vessels visit the working gravel quay opposite, and local sailing and other pleasure craft or those visiting from other UK or European ports, pass up and down the river below, adding constant interest to the vista. The apartment has long-distance views over Shoreham to the South Downs and, to the south, the sea. Within 10 minutes walk of the apartment there are good local shops, cafes, a bakery, and the beach - which is a designated nature reserve. A 10 minute walk via the pedestrian bridge over the River Adur will also get you to Shoreham town with its excellent shops, pubs and a wide selection of restaurants. Shoreham railway station (0.9 miles walk from the apartment) provides frequent services along the south coast to Southampton, Brighton and beyond, with direct access to Gatwick and London Victoria. There is also an excellent bus service which runs along the south coast between Brighton and Portsmouth and to Arundel. Shoreham itself has a host of festivals and community events running during the year and Ropetackle Arts Centre has a packed programme of films, theatre, comedy, exhibitions and music events. Among the many attractions within easy access are Arundel Castle, Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, Parham House, Wakehurst Place (Kew & NT), Sheffield Park, (NT), Borde Hill Gardens, Leonardslee Gardens, Petworth Park (NT), the Brighton Royal Pavilion, and glorious walks over the South Downs National Park, (now a designated Dark Sky Reserve), and the beautiful Sussex coast, including the South Downs Way. Shoreham airport is about 2 miles from the apartment, where short leisure or longer flights are available. Shoreham is also an excellent base for cyclists (there are bike racks in the car park) with miles of coastal riding as well as many trails up onto the South Downs. Long term lets are possible subject to availability eg. between house moves, during house renovations, during short-term business contracts, during business courses.
