This is a large 50´ by 25´house built in 1937 and moved to its actual location in 2008 (ask us the story!) . The house is located about 900 meters from the road, on a hill that allows a panoramic view on the river. Your neighbours will be a golf club, a quiet potato field and Yves, the owner of the house. The house can accommodate up to 8 adults between its 4 bedrooms (1x queen and 3x double bed, plus an extra twin bed upstairs). You will be able to take long walks through the field and the forests at the center of the Island without leaving the property. If you are lucky and visit during the maple syrup season, you will visit our family-operated sugar shack operated in the traditional way. Our guests appreciate the view, the calmness of the island and the possibility of quick daytrips to the city. We have recently acquired a three-stars rating from the CITQ, the official tourist accomodation rating system of the Government of Quebec. Bedding and towels included. ********** IMPORTANT ****************** ****************** There is a 2-bedrooms appartment downstairs with a separate entrance. From the end of April to the end of October we host up to 4 of our farm workers there. They are family men from Guatemala, and they have been with us for 8 years and they have our total trust. A recent review on a competitor's website describes them as 'quiet, discreet and friendly'. We have never had a complaint from our guests, but we believe in preventing surprises. ****************** ****************** ****************** Some useful links and activity ideas: -Le moulin de Saint-Laurent, a gourmet restaurant is just down the hill for a special treat. -Ecolocyclo, a bike rental company, is located at the entrance of the Island. -If you want to go fishing, la 'ferme piscicole Richard Boily' has a few lakes on the Island where you can go fish. They provide the equipment and no permit is required since this a fish farm. You are guaranteed to catch something for dinner. -La Boulange is the neighbouring village's bakery and cafe (5 minutes drive). It is also located next to the hockey rink if you want to play with the locals. -Make sure to visit the tourism office when you enter the island. -For a special Quebec city tour, the compagnie des six associés has some walking tours with nice themes. -There are 2 tennis courts located at the village park (5 minutes drive), bring your raquets. - The Baie de Beauport is an actual sand beach just across the bridge. You can rent a canoe or a kayak. There is also a BMX trail, and they rent BMXs. -Le Massif de Charlevoix is Quebec's highest ski mountain. It's distinguishing feature is that you ski down toward the river (instead of just another mountain) -The local library is open 4 days a week if you are short on reading. It is also a short drive from the house. More

We stayed in this beautiful home over Thanksgiving Week and loved every minute. We enjoyed long walks on the golf course, took easy day trips to Quebec City and around the island (loved the Choclateries and the ice wine and ice cider), took long naps...More

About the neighbourhood
Ile d´Orleans is a must-see for every travellers visiting Quebec city. From the Lonely Planet guide : 'Before Jacques Cartier named Île d'Orléans in the Duke of Orleans' honor, it was known as L'Île de Bacchus for its wild vines. Four centuries later, Québécois troubadour Félix Leclerc, who died here in 1988, likened the island to France's famous Chartres cathedral. Today, there are no signs of Dionysian orgies on sleepy Île d'Orléans, but there is plenty to attract day-trippers and those lucky visitors with more time to spare. The island is still primarily a pastoral farming region, with gentle landscapes and views across to both shores of the St Lawrence. One road (60km) circles it, with two more running north-south. Their edges are dotted with strawberry fields, orchards, cider ...
Getting around
A car is needed to get to and from the island. Bike rental is possible at the entrance of the Island at Écolocyclo
