Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

What an amazing wee place this is. It's not very big but it has everything! Cleverly laid out, well equipped and beautifully finished, it made a great pied-à-terre for our week's walking in Cheshire. The 'welcome pack' was very generous, the bed is comfy, the bath is huge and the hot water plentiful. And it was lovely waking up to horses in the paddock. You'll find Chris & Graham helpful and unobtrusive and the cottage, although it's in their garden, is a haven of peace and quiet.

Ive just returned from an overnight stay with my best friend to celebrate our birthdays. We were met by Christine, Graham and their gorgeous dog, Christine showed us to our cottage which is beautiful, cosy and immaculately clean. The log fire was prelit and there was a well stocked fridge with continental breakfast goodies. The outside area is everything we wanted and we spent the entire afternoon out there. There's a small seating area and a larger area with table and chairs which we took cover under during an April shower. It's so peaceful out there with lovely views and a field in front of you which my dog would love to run around in (he's coming next time!) I would love to visit again with my husband and pooch as it's a perfect, quiet get away with great hosts who are a stones throw away if you need them, highly recommended and I'll look forward to another stay. Thank you Christine and Graham

In a stunning location, plenty of walks for the dog and pubs nearby. Beautiful and compact cottage with everything you need including breakfast supplied by Chris. Wonderful hosts who leave you to enjoy your time in the cottage. Would definately go back again didnt want to leave.

Spent an enjoyable week in this lovely cottage. Made to feel very welcome. Managed to enjoy some sunshine in the outside area. An added bonus of breakfast items that lasted us most of the week. Would definitely recommend

We stayed at the cottage for the three days of Carfest and it was perfect for relaxing in at the end of each day. The supplies for breakfast were a nice touch and the hosts were welcoming and helpful.

Arrived late after the Friday at Carfest. We were greeted by a well equipped, cozy dwelling. There was everything you could need. The main bonus which was totally unexpected was the thoughtful larder of 4 breakfast cereals (kilner jars), apples, satsumas, yogurts, butter, cheese, jam, marmalade, 2pints milk, carton of OJ, 4 croissants, white & brown bread & bottle of sauvignon blanc. Breakfast was more or less sorted for the whole week. It was a really lovely touch & greatly appreciated. The location was idyllic & peaceful-even horses in the field. A wonderful place to stay. Chris & Graeme were very friendly & informative. Thank you.

We stayed here for two nights after visiting dog fest with our two small dogs. Cottage is small but very pretty, lovely comfy bed. Bathroom is great with both shower and large roll top bath. The only thing we would've liked and its nothing really is a bigger TV but no big deal for a few days away. Even though you're just behind owners house it's very private and you're not overlooked or disturbed. We were left a great range of breakfast items too and milk, coffee etc. All in all a very pleasant stay, I would definitely stay here and would recommend it.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay a few weeks ago in what is a lovely, quaint little cottage. The hosts had thought of all the little details, including breakfast items and milk in the fridge and toiletries in the bathroom. The fire was lit upon our arrival and we were given great advice as to local walks in the area. The roll top bath was a bonus! Would certainly recommend.

Barton Bank was the ideal place for a short break. Owners Chris and Graham - and big Lennie - couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful and the cottage itself was beautiful. It had everything we needed - although it was a struggle to move from in front of the woodburner. We brought our dog along and she loved it - there are great country walks directly from the property, and we will definately be back when it's warmer to take advantage of the bbq in the garden.
