2 bedroom ● Sleep 4 ● Dog Welcome ● Short breaks all year ● Minimum 2 night stay ● Garden location – peaceful and relaxing location

The Water Mill, built in 1905 to service the grain on what was the Glendaruel Estate, and subsequently used as a Saw Mill, has been tastefully converted over the years while still retaining its character. Now used as a quality B&B and two self catering options: The Saw Mill and The Joiner’s Shop.

The property sits within a beautiful secluded garden, complete with the original Mill Pond and streams that generated the power to service the mill. The Water Mill offers a truly chill-out and deeply peaceful break. When you are ready to venture out to do things you will find its location on the Cowal Way long distance path, complete with a collection service at the end of your...

Booked last minute for a couple of nights. Boys loved lighting the fire in the evening and climbing up the waterfalls. Grounds are beautiful and accommodation comfortable. Lady managing it was lovely. Really helpful and great cushions in her craft shop. Thank you.

About the neighbourhood
The Sawmill is on the route of The Cowal Way long distance path and is a good base for walkers.

Around the year 1110, a battle was fought between Mekan, King of Norway and son of Magnus Barefoot, and the Gaels, in which the invaders were defeated and the slaughtered were thrown into the River Ruail or 'Ruel', Glen-da-Ruail (Glen of red blood). The Clachan, Glenderwell or Glendaruel was Anglicised to the name we know as Glendaruel.

An excavation carried out by the Cowal Archaeological Society, at Achategan, on the slope of the hill across the road from the Clachan, revealed a series of occupations of the site going back as far as the Neolithic period, about 5,000...
