Cottage
Rhiw Goch house and cottage are set in 27 acres of hilly woodland with beautiful landscaped gardens, secluded glades and viewpoints over the picturesque Lledr Valley. The air is clean and it's quiet and peaceful up here on the hillside, perfect to completely chill out and absorb nature. The stone-built cottage dates back at least to the 18th century and its wood burning stove powered heating, natural water supply (filtered from an upland stream) and traditional feel make for a rustic experience where you can get back to nature whilst still being comfortable. The cottage is perfect for couples, small groups of friends or families with children over the age of 10 Without getting in a car there is a public footpath from the drive along the hillside and into woodland and then onto forest tracks. A rough track called Sarn Helen goes up from the end of the drive into a maze of tracks which connect to Llyn Elsi lake, descend to Betws-y-Coed and go as far as Capel Curig. There is a walk along the river Lledr just in the valley and tracks to walk up the opposite hillside. 'Fairy Glen' is a short drive away. Penmachno mountain bike trails are just across the valley and the Gwydir Forest Trails (Marin) and Coed-y-Brenin trails are a short drive away. Pen-y-Pass for walking Snowdon is about 20 mins drive, a little further on are the tourist village of Portmeirion and various beaches at Llandudno, Anglesey and Barmouth. The Zip World Fforest & Slate Caverns and the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways all a short drive away. Swallow Falls, Conwy Falls and Aber Falls are all within a short drive as is the spectacular Bodnant Gardens. The nearest pub and shop are in Dolwyddelan a short drive away. The tourist town of Betws-y-Coed is 4 miles away, where there are pubs, restaurants and many outdoor shops. There are decent Coop's in both Blaenau and Llanrwst 7 miles away. Our friends at Plas Penaeldroch run a cafe at the bottom of the lane on the A470. The wood burning stove runs the radiators, plus there are electric heaters. The stove will be laid for you ready to light when you arrive and enough wood is provided for a fire each evening. Bags of wood are available at the local garages if more is required. We do not use wifi and at the moment there is no wired internet into the cottage. Mobile phone signals in the cottage range from OK to low depending on the provider, but signals are adequately high just by walking into the gardens. The bunkbeds are adult strength and size, but we'd suggest not having someone more than 12 stone (170lb, 75kg) on the top bunk. WE PROVIDE A BATHROOM SOAP DISPENSER BUT NO BARS OF SOAP OR SHAMPOO. DUE TO CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES WE DO NOT PROVIDE TOWELS ROUTINELY BUT THEY ARE AVAILABLE ON REQUEST. We do not iron the bedding. Please remember that the weather can be extreme at times and there are insects such as midges, mosquito's and sheep ticks around in the gardens in summer. Please be sure to come prepared with outdoor and wet weather gear, plenty of layers and warm socks! Hot water bottles are provided. It is a non-smoking cottage and we only welcome families with kids over the age of 10. There are ponds in the gardens and we are on a hillside so there are cliffs and drop-offs in the areas around the cultured gardens not safe for young children. We do not allow pets. COVID-19: Rhiw Goch cottage is detached from all other buildings on the property and our location is itself very isolated. We'll leave the keys in the cottage for you and can maintain social distancing if you want to stop for a chat, we're always around if you need anything but otherwise we'll leave you to enjoy your holiday. DUE TO CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES WE PREFER YOU TO BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS BUT WE CAN PROVIDE TOWELS ON REQUEST. Pillow protectors are washed for every guest. The kitchen (incl. crockery and utensils) and bathroom, all surfaces, door and cupboard handles, and switches are sanitised with BioD Multisurface Sanitiser. We see these as sensible precautions. We hope you enjoy your stay!More

The greeting and the cottage were perfect. Lovely people and amazing place. The cottage is near Dolwyddelan village in the middle of Snowdonia. The property is beautiful with a magical garden and some perfect spots to admire the view.
