We stayed here for 10 nights and what a lovely cottage away from home. Beds are comfy and the cottage had everything we needed to cook meals most nights - Other than a fish slice lol! There is also loads of space for parking, which was handy as we had multiple cars. The heat stays in the cottage and there was nothing cosier than lighting a fire and sitting reading my kindle at night. The location was what we wanted - quiet and peaceful, but only a short 4/5 minute drive into the Ramelton village. Barry and John were so lovely when we were checking in and any questions I sent to Barry through our stay, were answered so quickly to. Can’t wait to be back next year - thank you!

Warm, large, well equipped house
The area around Ramelton is very beautiful with great beaches and stunning countryside side. The town itself is interesting and friendly. The rooms in the house are large, there’s a well equipped kitchen and a log burning fire. Hard to fault it. It’s a longish walk - about 30 minutes - down a dark road to the town for those who fancy a pint but don’t want to drive. There are no local taxis. But these are small issues - I’d thoroughly recommend this property.

Lovely Stay at the Thatch
We had a lovely stay the house is clean and fully equipped. Great location for exploring Donegal and all its nooks and crannies, stunning for photography and its history. We packed so much in and got about quite a bit of the beaten track it was fantastic to come back and relax in front of the fire at the Thatch, it is cosy and peaceful but only a country mile from Ráth Mealtain which has plenty of pubs and good food. Barry is very friendly and helpful host and was very accommodating we would defiantly book again.

Just back from hedgerow cottage ramelton. This was our 2nd visit and we were not disappointed. Barry the owner was once again an amazing host, welcoming us our first night and making us feel at home. Just had to ring him if we needed anything which we didn’t as cottage is so well equipped for your stay.Great base for beach walking and exploring the delights of Donegal.Took our dog Manè and he enjoyed it even more than us.Cant wait to return next year .

Wonderful stay in Donegal
Lovely out of the way cottage, yet still near enough to Letterkenny for essentials. We had a great stay in the clean, well equipped cottage myself and wife with father in law and 2 Springer Spaniels who enjoyed the nearby beach at Rathmullan. The hosts, Barry and family, were extremely nice and helpful. Thank you

Super house, friendly owners, great location.
Really nice house in a lovely rural area yet close to Ramelton. Barry and family could not have been more helpful. House is well laid out, tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. Would unreservedly recommend it to others.

Ramelton is located 7 miles north of Letterkenny at the mouth of the River Leannan, famed for it's superb salmon fishing.
The Old Meeting House where the County Genealogical Centre is located is one of the oldest Presbyterian churches in Ireland. With over 4 million people owing their ancestry to Donegal, the Genealogical Centre is a must for those trying to trace their elusive ancestors. Killydonnell Abbey, founded by the O'Donnells in the 16th century, is a few miles from the village.
The village also has a lively music scene centred on the Bridge Bar - a great place to spend an evening.
Proximity to Letterkenny, Donegal's main town, makes Ramelton an ideal spot for exploring the natural beauties of the county while still being close to theatre, cinemas, swimming pool, shopping etc.
