This cosy 200-year old cottage overlooks the peaceful limestone village of Parwich in the Peak District National Park. Croft Cottage has been comfortably refurbished, whilst retaining many of its old features: a small wood-burning stove, beamed ceilings, mullioned windows and some other quirky features. The cottage is rated 4-star ETB. Croft Cottage is situated up a short driveway from a quiet lane. Panoramic views across the valley. The cottage is south-facing and has a sheltered garden with furniture, and an adjacent vegetable plot. There is a meadow behind the cottage, where sheep graze and pheasants wander past the window. Well-equipped kitchen with electric cooker, fridge freezer, washing machine and microwave. Upstairs are a large and small bedroom with a king-size bed and single bed respectively. The cottage is heated by storage heaters throughout. The friendly village of Parwich is quiet and secluded; it has a pub with small shop, a church, playing field and even a crown bowling green. Excellent walking, cycling (space in garage available for bikes) or sightseeing in the area or simply relax in the peaceful surroundings. The market towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton are nearby. Parwich is ideally located for Carsington Water, Dovedale and the Manifold Valley, the Tissington and High Peak Trails as well as for Alton Towers, several National Trust country homes, Chatsworth and Haddon Hall.More

The owner of the S/C cottage lives next-door and is usually available if required. There is ample information about the area in the cottage in the form of leaflets, guide books, maps etc., whilst the owner is always happy to make suggestions or give advice. Just ask!

Lovely cottage, great location

We stayed in this cottage in March and were blessed with some fantastic weather. Lovely walks right from the door, comfortable accommodation and a dog friendly pub nearby. We had a lovely stay.

Fantastic stay

Croft cottage

It is a quite, peaceful and very pretty cottage in beautiful surroundings. It made an excellent base for exploring the local area. They even allowed us to have some fresh vegetables from their garden. I would highly recommend a visit!

About the neighbourhood
Croft Cottage is situated in a small, quiet village in the beautiful Peak District National Park. Views across the village and valley. There is a village pub, also serving meals, with many more pubs in other villages nearby, most serving food. The village pub has a small shop inside, selling basic groceries. Miles and miles of footpaths through beautiful landscapes, as well as some cycling trails nearby. The towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton are all within easy reach. The famous Chatsworth and Haddon estates are just over a 30-minutes' drive. Carsington Water is 10 minutes away, as are the Tissington and High Peak Trails. The theme park of Alton Towers can be reached in less than 1 hour. And lots more.

As mentioned above, public transport is limited, but currently an on-demand minibus service is being piloted. The nearest stations are in Matlock, Buxton (bus/train) and in Ashbourne and Bakewell (bus).
