About the neighbourhood
The house is located in a quiet close, overlooking the rocky mountains of Avola Antica on one side; the ancient Greek column Pizzuta on another side (whereby the name of the famous almond Pizzuta) surrounded by immense almond plantations; the coastal beauty of the ancient city of Eloro on the Eastern side. From the patio you can admire Portopalo di Capopassero's lighthouse, the furthest Eastern point of Sicily.
Lido di Noto is served by four mini markets (botteghe) which make awesome panini stuffed with any combination of fragrant Italian cured meats, irresistible Sicilian cheeses, traditional pickled veggies and much more: an amazing packed lunch for a hot day on the beach!
There are coaches that connect Noto historical city centre with Siracusa, Catania (including airport), Modica and Ragusa. However the best way to enjoy our area is definitely by car or motorbike. The car is also the best transport if you are planning to do 1) the coastal tour of the Oasis of Vendicari, Calamosche, Marianelli and the Roman Villa of Tellaro, 2) Natural Oasis of Plemmirio 3)tour of the Iblei villages and Valle dell’Anapo UNESCO landmarks. Most of the beaches and historical sites offer free parking and some of them offer attended parking for as little as €2-3 for the entire day.
