The property is located just five minutes drive from the hilltop village of Montauroux, on a quiet hillside and set in an acre of landscaped grounds with beautiful views over the surrounding hills and nearby lake. It is 25 kms to the north-west of Cannes and 15 kms west of Grasse so all the Côte d’Azur resorts can be quickly reached.

The local area, the Pays de Fayence, offers all the main outdoor pursuits you could wish for, including golf and gliding, as well as numerous ancient villages, vineyards and cultural activities. Nearby Lake St. Cassien is a 5 minute drive and is excellent for swimming and a range of watersports.

The property comfortably accommodates 11 people.

On the ground floor, there is a double bedroom opening onto the lawned garden with fully tiled en-suite bathroom (with shower, washbasin and WC), two twin bedrooms (one of which opens onto the garden and pool), kitchen and fully tiled bathroom with bath/shower, washbasin and WC.

On the first floor there is a large open plan lounge/dining room opening onto the dining terrace, a brand new, very spacious and fully fitted kitchen, indoor terrace with dining area, double bedroom, twin bedroom, bathroom with shower, bath, two washbasins and a separate WC.

On the second floor there is a mezzanine bedroom with a single bed, leading to the upper terrace. The property was renovated throughout in 2010 and redecorated in 2013.

Additional Rate and Availability Information
Pricing is per week, fully inclusive of gas, electricity, linen and cleaning prior to and after your stay. All arrivals and departures are on Saturday although this may be flexible out of season. Babies under 12 months are not counted in the occupancy figures. A 20% (non-refundable) deposit is required to book. The balance is due 12 weeks before arrival. We also require a refundable damage deposit of £500/600€ due at least one week before arrival.

The base prices quoted outside peak season are for an occupancy of 2 people. There is an additional nightly charge for extra guests up to 11 people. In peak season we only price for up to 11 guests so there is only one rate.

The local authority in Montauroux also levies a Stay Tax (Taxe de Sejour) of 0.88€ per adult aged over 18 per day which is payable at the property.

About the neighbourhood
In the countryside behind the coast you will discover breathtakingly scenic routes winding over hills and mountains and through gorges, past ancient hillside villages with their labyrinths of narrow streets and stairways, invariably leading to the fortified château at the top and commanding an impressive view of the surrounding area. Fayence, Seillans, Bargemon, Callas, Claviers, Mons, St. Cézaire and Cabris are amongst many to be explored. You can also take a trip into the Alps or visit one of the spectacular gorges - Gorges de La Siagne, Châteaudouble or the renowned Gorges du Verdon, the deepest canyon in Europe with its 500 metre sheer cliffs. The area where Montauroux is located is known as the “Pays de Fayence”, Fayence being the largest local village, while the “département” is The Var, boasting some of the finest scenery Provence has to offer. The countryside is predominantly wooded hillsides dotted with picturesque, perched villages and interspersed with luxuriant valleys and deep gorges sparkling with fast flowing rivers and crystalline rock pools. The clear waters of nearby Lake St. Cassien are excellent for swimming. It is also famous for carp fishing and offers a range of watersports. The nearest lake access is located a short drive down the road and there are many beaches and swimming areas dotted around the lake. You can also take a trip into the Tanneron hills and enjoy marvellous views over the lake and the Esterel Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty and spectacular peaks. Most outdoor activities are available in the area, including golf, tennis, horseriding, canyoning, gliding, watersports, climbing and hiking.
How to get there
The property is located 35 minutes from Nice airport, just over 1 hour from Hyères/Toulon airport and under 2 hours from Marseilles airport. All the main airlines operate at these airports with frequent budget flights available. Car hire can be arranged through all the main operators as well as the global consolidators such as www.holidayautos.co.uk. If you prefer train travel, there is a high speed TGV train service departing from London Waterloo to Marseilles, with one quick change in Lille. You can then carry on to Les Arcs, St. Raphael or Cannes if you wish and hire a car there.
