Our delightful self-catering vacation rental cottage is situated off a quiet country lane between the pretty villages of Laniscat & Gouarec, in the heart of Brittany. The Stable is a recent conversion, accommodating up to 3 people and is ideal for a couple or small family. The property has a range of exposed stone walls and original feature exposed beams and enjoys a 452 sq foot living room/diner and a 237 sq foot master bedroom with stunning exposed A-frames. The large, open plan kitchen allows for flexibility at meal times. There is the breakfast bar for a quick bite to eat but if you prefer a more formal sit-down setting you can use the separate dining area. The lawn and private patio area to the side and rear of the property is a real sun-trap and there are sun loungers and parasols at your disposal, a bistro style table and chairs and a large wooden table with bench seating for al fresco dining. Situated in over an acre of mature gardens surrounded with magnificent tall trees where you can, depending on the season, take your pick of apples, pears, plums, cherries, figs, walnuts & hazelnuts. Or simply just relax with a good book under the shade of one of the centennial oaks. We are surrounded by rolling green hills and quiet wooded valleys and the local area abounds with ancient monuments, old churches and historic medieval towns. This part of Brittany is a gift for walkers and cyclists, bird watchers, anglers and nature lovers. Empty footpaths, flower-filled pastures, hidden valleys and lush woodland abound. It really is a place in which you can breathe out. The largest lake in Brittany, the Lac de Guerlédan and the Nantes-Brest Canal are both under 10 minutes away and offer family-friendly sandy beaches and a variety of water sports including kayaking, windsurfing and water-skiing. There are a variety of dining options scattered around the lake including dinner boat trips in the summer months. Both the south and north coasts are within an hour’s drive thus giving you the best of all worlds. Driving in Brittany is not a problem - the roads are well-maintained and never crowded. This beautiful region has a lot to offer you and is ideal to visit from early spring to late autumn. In the winter months, the wood-burning stove in the Stable provides a cosy atmosphere after a day’s outing. More
