Kilmartin Castle sits over Kilmartin Glen, an area full of incredible history dating back to the neolithic period, many standing stones are dotted around the landscape. The local pub is walking distance from the castle and a good choice for a pub dinner out. Locals travel here from surrounding villages. The castle was built around 1550 by John Carswell, The Rector of Kilmartin and later Bishop of the Isles. He lived here before moving to his new residence at Carnasserie Castle (now ruined). All five double bedrooms have been individually designed to retain the rustic magic of Kilmartin Castle while still spoiling you with the comforts of modern living including wood burning stoves, extravagant walk in showers, roll top baths and of course, luxury bedding and robes!...Kilmartin Castle sits over Kilmartin Glen, an area full of incredible history dating back to the neolithic period, many standing stones are dotted around the landscape. One night at the castle was more than enough to truly feel like a prince and a princess. It is located in a very private zone so there aren't any "outside" distractions, although the pub is really close (that is good). The castle has been...More

This gorgeous gem of a castle is fully restored with enough mod cons to keep you happy, but with a healthy dose of "lost in time" tranquility. Absolutely perfect - comfy beds, a clean and well stocked kitchen with everything you need to cook in,...More
