Holiday Rental House
This is a spacious, sunny, 1st floor flat with 2 bedrooms. It can sleep 6 adults and 2/3 children. The stunning rural location does mean you need a car. You can walk to Pieve but there is no footpath on the busy road! Pieve is a 3 minute drive away. Recently fully renovated, the flat has all sorts of quirky features reflecting the history of the building as a convent. All rooms are spacious and fully equipped; there's one very large covered balcony – for dining and just generally enjoying the views and sunshine - with a gorgeous willow tree for some shade, and a smaller balcony off one of the bedrooms. Two large ground floor cellar rooms are cool and lead to a large private patio; stone steps underneath the willow tree lead into a large garden. The master bedroom has a beautiful vaulted ceiling, with double doors leading onto a juliet balcony looking out onto the street (not over-looked); it has an oak framed super kingsize bed, a large chest of drawers and a large 'reclaimed wood' wardrobe. There's ample space to pull out a spare single mattress from under the bed for someone else to sleep on. We have a travel cot in this room as well, if required. The tiled floor is covered in a huge persian rug. Our family of 4 (5 and 3 yr old) all sleep in this room when we stay. There is a log-burning stove here. The second bedroom has double doors to a small balcony, large enough to fit 2 chairs to enjoy the fantastic view for that early morning coffee or 'dust buster beer' at the end of the day. A large rug, metal framed double bed, chest of draws, and chair give plenty of comfort and storage for 2 people. Hanging space is provided by hooks & hangers on the wall. Leave the shutters open and you have a great view to wake to! Bedding and Towels are all provided. All mattresses have protective covers for additional comfort. The Kitchen is brand new, with dishwasher, convection hob, standard grill and oven and a large dining table; a separate larder also houses the washing machine and fridge freezer and there’s lots of room for storage. We like a well-equipped kitchen so it has lots of pots and pans, glasses, crockery and cutlery, a set of sharp knives, chopping boards, grater, colander and most importantly a corkscrew! The Lounge is really special, with the same quirky vaulted ceilings as some of the other rooms and a window with shutters. A large corner sofa bed, takes seconds to put up or down and is really comfortable either as full time bed (sleeps 2), for an afternoon snooze or to lie out and chill with family and friends in the evening to watch a movie. There are two other funky yellow armchairs, a tall boy for storage, an old vintage mirror with fairy lights and a quirky cupboard in the wall full of books, games and pictures. The floor is tiled. There is a 32 inch television and DVD player so do bring your movies. The bathroom has a big shower, sink with lit mirror above it, a toilet and plenty of storage space. Beach towels/small towels (6 each) are provided. The electrically heated hot water tank is huge and has plenty of steaming hot water for lots of showers. You reach the two large ground floor rooms via a stairway, the first of which has the same vaulted ceilings that are typical of the area. This room is nice and cool and great for chilling out, playing games or reading. The second room houses a vintage olive press, and double doors which open out onto a large private patio. The same large willow tree provides generous shade and stone steps lead out onto the large garden. Garden - There's lots of space to spread out and enjoy the sounds of the Italian countryside from our neighbours hunting dogs echoing across the hills to water running in the idyllic stream, which is a few minutes walk away and amazing to paddle in. There's various bits of garden furniture, including loungers. We also have a large inflatable pool to cool down in. There's a plum tree, cherry trees, and a Bay tree (great for cooking with) in the garden. There are fantastic views down the valley and hillside opposite and a fence and beautiful Olliander bushes separate our garden from our friendly neighbours on one side. To the other side of the garden is an impressive abandoned old stone villa which adds to the atmosphere of the whole place. More

We loved our week in Muzio - a perfect late-summer get away in beautiful Mediterranean sunshine. The flat was perfectly set up for us and our little girl (19 months) with everything we could need. We loved being able to eat every meal al fresco...More

About the neighbourhood
Muzio is a special place full of farmers making oil, wine and even a pack of hunting dogs which live opposite. The fantastic medieval town of Pieve Di Teco is 3 or 4 minute away and it has everything you need, even it’s own local spring water dispenser for 5 cents for 1L. You’re 20 mins drive from Imperia (Port Maurizio - gorgeous old town on harbour with beaches) and the whole coastline is full of amazing beaches - Alassio, Albenga, San Remo and more are all within 40 mins drive. If you simply want to stay put, the countryside is available to explore right from the back garden. A number of short adventure walks into the terraced hillsides to discover 400 yr old abandoned hunting lodges and farm houses and walks down to the local stream.
Getting around
Parking: there’s a car park area in the garden, but be warned the street is very narrow & has concrete door steps jutting out into it – you can scratch your car but we tend to manage it. Parking in the public car park is easy, free and only a few minutes’ walk from the flat, and you get to see the amazing alleys and buildings of Muzio. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PARK IMMDEDIATELY OUTSIDE THE FLAT. IT’S PRIVATE.
