Bamff Old Brewhouse is a charming early Victorian cottage-like wing of Bamff house. It is comfortable, cosy and colourful and retains many original features. With a small double and a twin bedroom which can be converted to double with a super-kingsized bed, sitting-room with wood burning stove, kitchen, bathroom, dining room and porch. Heating (by a woodchip boiler), electricity, linen and towels are all included in the price, along with logs for the wood-burning stove. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome.

Bamff estate, known for its conservation management, abundant wildlife and in particular, wetland restoration project with beavers, (the first of its kind in the UK). The owner will enthusiastically act as wildlife guide to guests in the cottage, and on summer evenings beaver watching is a particular delight.

Interaction with guests
During a stay at Bamff you are more than welcome to ask Paul for a beaver walk. This involves walking through the woods, looking at Beaver dams, seeing all kinds of wildlife (including Otters, a wide variety of birds, and maybe even Beavers!) and having Paul explain about the local ecosystem and conservation efforts in this area.

Great little cottage in a beautiful location. Full of charm. We especially enjoyed the log burner and deep bath. The only minor negative was the facilities for the yurts being directly opposite the cottage with comings and goings starting in the early hours. I’d love...More

About the neighbourhood
Bamff is a small estate on the edge of the Scottish Highlands in East Perthshire. It is managed for organic sheep farming, timber, native woodland, forest regeneration, affordable housing and renewable energy. Over the last three decades there has been an emphasis on ecological management which has been assisted by two families of beavers and a herd of wild boar. The Cateran Trail, a circular walk of 64 miles through the spectacular and varied landscape of East Perthshire, from the open farmland on the edge of the highlands to the rugged mountain terrain of Glenshee runs through the estate.
Getting around
At Bamff you will mostly have to either walk or drive. To get anywhere farther afield than Alyth it is easiest to drive, however there is a bus link from Alyth Square which goes to Dundee as well as a variety of other places. There are lots of pleasant walks in and around Bamff Estate, particularly the cateran trail (walkthecaterantrail .com) which is a well sign posted walking trail. Bikes can also be hired from Alyth Cycles, a good quality cycle shop;(alythcycles .com).

How to get there
Airport: Dundee Airport: 32.0 km
Railway: Dundee Railway Station: 32.0 km
Once you reach the town of Alyth, continue up the Bamff Road, past the market square to your right and out past the Den of Alyth on the left. Carry on for another 3 miles until to come to a sharp left hand bend signposted to Bridge of Cally, from there you will see the Gatehouse at the start of Bamff drive. The drive is an unsurfaced road of around 3/4 of a mile, keep right at the big house and follow the signposts to the car park.
