The apartment is laid out over two levels and accessed via an outdoor staircase and colonnade to reveal a short entry hall with first bathroom (shower, toilet, bidet and basin), leading to the open-plan living area. A fully-fitted kitchen includes gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, and a myriad of small electrical appliances. In the dining area an extendable table seats eight, and on the balcony an outdoor cedar table and chairs provide for al fresco dining with gas bar-be-que.
The internal staircase of polished granite leads to the upper floor set under a gabled roof with cathedral ceilings and dormer windows. Here the front-facing master bedroom comes with a queen-size bed and lake views, whilst the second bedroom is furnished with twin beds (set either together as a ‘matrimonial’, or separated), with views up to the nearby abbey and the mountains. Both bedrooms provide a wardrobe and chest of draws, bedside tables, and reading lamps. The adjacent main bathroom features a shower, toilet, bidet, and basin, along with a washing machine and a hair-dryer. Cross-flow ventilating double-glazed windows throughout the apartment, and fans in both bedrooms create an airy environment, and the main bathroom features a tilting skylight window for great lighting and ventilation. In the living room a sofa-bed may be opened to accommodate two further guests.
Car access is conveniently controlled via key-operated electronic boom-gate, and the grounds provide the convenience of a car parking space with additional parking spaces just outside the entrance.
In this delightful enclave, enjoy time for ‘dolce fa niente’ – literally, the pleasure of doing nothing… or plan a visit to one of Lake Como’s famous tourist attractions, such as the villas Balbianello, Carlotta, and Melzi, or the lakeside towns of Cernobbio, Bellagio, Varenna, and Menaggio, and the international ambiance of Cadenabbia and Como’s Centro Storico. Although a car may be an asset, all attractions can be accessed by local C10 bus, and lake ferries.
Above the complex, historical sites include the Abbazia dell’Acquafredda, c1143 (Coldwater Abbey). The abbey’s name is derived from a nearby source of particularly cool water where locals still refill bottles with drinking water today. Nearby, above Ossuccio, the UNESCO heritage-listed site of the church of the Madonna del Socorsso is reached via 14 chapels set along a wide, grassed and stepped path. At the rear of the church a café offers welcome refreshment.
For walking and hiking enthusiasts, numerous trails criss-cross the area affording wonderful vistas, panoramas, and intimate vignettes as they lead one up hill and down dale, weaving and twisting with the landscape along the lake. More leisurely perhaps, the famous Greenway Walk passes through Lenno connecting Colonno and Cadenabbia along a 10km sign-posted path.
In the centre of Lenno around the beautiful ‘Baia di Venere’ (the Bay of Venus), the town treasures several religious buildings considered important works of art in their own right, including the parish church of Saint Stefano (with pre-Christian crypt), which faces the Romanesque baptistery of Saint Giovanni in Lenno’s main square, Piazza Santo Stefano.
Also in Lenno numerous eating venues cater to all tastes with pizzerias including L`Osteria Numero 1, Ristorante Pizzeria Il Cris, and Pizzeria Ranch; Trattoria Santo Stefano opposite the church with its “genuine taste of tradition” offers local slow-food. On the picturesque Lenno waterfront, Bar Golfo and Bar Sport serve snacks and refreshments and offer free wi-fi. By the boat transfer service to Villa Balbianello opposite the Lenno waterfront, the Lido di Lenno beach club offers various settings including a private beach with day beds, drink service and snack bar; an à la carte restaurant, weddings and special events catering, and a vibrant evening nite-club scene.
The weekly Lenno market which takes place every Tuesday in the piazza and along the lakefront has been drawing visitors for over 100 years to amble the stalls selling everything from vegetables, garden plants, clothing, smallgoods, hot roast meats, fresh fish and hardware, to caged birds.
Along the main road to Como from the piazza you’ll find a Sigma supermarket, petrol station, hardware shop (Valdè), Pizzeria Ranch, and Bar Pasticceria Tremezzina with wi-fi Internet Point, all within a few metres of each other dispersed across the intersection between the main road Via Statale (SS340) and Via Rima.
