Bodell is a traditional stone self catering Cumbrian cottage situated at the southern end of Bothel Village. Bothel is a small village situated just outside the Lake District; this Cumbrian cottage has two bedrooms.

The location gives good access to the main A591 and all Northern beauty spots; such as: Borrowdale, Bassenthwaite, Cockermouth and Keswick. Sleeps four/five. Cot and high chair are available, please ask when booking.

Bodell Cottage also has a rear private yard which is complete with furniture.

On-street Parking is available and Pets are welcome in this cottage.

Excellent location for both the Solway Firth and the Northern Lakes. Many hiking opportunities around Keswick and south of Keswick ranging from easy to challenging.

We stayed at Bodell Cottage during October half term 2016. The cottage was conveniently located in Bothel just outside the Lake District National Park and off the A195 for ease of access. There is the Greyhound PH in the village which has tasty food with...More

About the neighbourhood
Bassenthwaite Lake is owned by the National Park Authority and is one of the largest measuring in at almost 4 miles long and ¾ mile wide; but also one of the shallowest with a maximum depth of around 70ft. Incidentally Bassenthwaite Lake is the only Lake District lake that has the word 'lake' in its proper title; with others having the word water or mere being substituted name for 'lake'. There has been speculation that Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwent Water in Keswick were once one larger lake.

It is also said that Bassenthwaite Lake is home to the Eachy: a species of Lake Monster - a large humanoid being of gruesome and slimy appearance. The Eachy has been spotted as late as 1973 when it was photographed twice.
