Ipanema Beach is one of Rios' most well-known beaches for a reason. There's tons of things to do—go surfing, play volleyball, or just lay out and people watch. Later, you can stop by one of the outdoor bars for a coconut milk and stick around until the sun sets for some of the best views.

After Copacabana there is Ipanema but not many realize that Ipanema is flanked by Arpoador and Leblon. Ipanema is lovely though its not as large as its famous big brother it is not as "loud and wild" simply calmer.

A song made Ipanema Beach famous. The area, though, would have been famous anyway without the song due to its beauty. I would say Impanema Beach area would be my first or second choice in staying in Rio de Janeiro. The day we were there a number of surfers where taking advantage of the reasonably high surf. There were also a good number of people enjoying the beach. It is one of those areas that one needs to make a visit. Don't leave without taking a photo of the "Estatua de Tom Jobim." Someone was cleaver in placing an artistic statue along the walkway. Well worth a photo opp.

Very clean, beautiful and relaxing beach. There are not many bad features, or many tourists here either, which is really nice. Plenty of great restaurants with good views of the ocean.

Playa Quila Quina whispers peaceful tones and if you follow the voice, you'll find a charming spot with sandy shores and clear waters. Bring the whole family, but leave behind your worries — you won't be betrayed. Plan to catch the waves or the scenic views. Hunger finds us all, thankfully good food is served nearby.
