Mackinaw City is colder than most other places in the country, with cool summers that have highs only in the sixties and seventies and frigid winters with temps often dipping below the teens.  Breezes from the lakes temper heat, and snow fall makes for beautiful, frozen lakescapes—though autumn may be the best time to visit the city because of the gorgeous fall colors for which Mackinaw is known.

There are, however, events and reasons enough to stop by Mackinaw City any time of year.  The annual Winterfest is a celebration of snow carving, sleighing, skating, ice fishing and indoors activities like card games.

The summer music concert schedule promises free listening pleasure in a most mild outdoors setting.

In addition to the Hopps of Fun Beer & Wine Festival, autumn also presents its trees, flowers, and agriculture, all of which give the city a transient majesty that fully captivates visitors and residents every year.
