Currency in Brunei is the Brunei Dollar which follows the Singapore Dollar on exchange rate to your local currency. Changing money is simple at the frequent money changers around the country. Within Brunei, Singapore dollars are readily accepted, even at streetside food markets - change is given back in Brunei dollars.
International banks in Brunei includes HSBC, Standard Chartered, Citibank. HSBC and Standard Chartered banks have ATM outlets in most commercial areas.
Popular local banks are Baiduri Bank and Islamic Bank of Brunei (IBB).
Western Union, an international money sender is available in most branches of Baiduri bank.
Credit cards (master/visa) are widely accepted in commercial areas and supermarkets. Some establishments however has a minimum spending limitations.
