Short general information about emergency calls (still valid in January 2011):

All purpose emergency call number for foreigners is 112. It's free and could be dialed from any telephone, operators are able to speak Czech, English and German. More information http://ec.europa.eu/information_socie... .

You may use this number to report road accident, fire, crime, life threatening injury etc.

The local emergency numbers (if you are able to speak Czech) are:

150 - firefighters

155 - medical emergency (ambulance)

158 - state police (call in case of crime, road accident etc.)

156 - municipal police (call in case of someone disturbing the peace in the street, makes noise at nights etc.)
