Yes, Italy is known for its wine. But, if there is a beer lover in your group, Rome can offer up some terrific craft beers, too! Here are some good places to try craft beer in Rome:

Brasserie 4:20, Via Portuense, 82, 06 5831 0737.  A large and welcoming place with a multitude of beer on tap, bottled beers, and very good bar snacks such as hamburgers and house-made sausage with a ton of different toppings to choose from.  Note: you may need a taxi or Uber to get to/from this one, as it’s located in an industrial area with limited street lighting and not a lot of people walking around there at night.

Ma che siete benuti a fà, Via Benedetta, 25, Trastevere, 06 6456 2046: A teensy space with a few barstools in the front, a couple of tiny tables in the back, and some terrific beer on tap. No food, but plenty of places in the area for that. The name is something Lazio soccer team supporters yell at an opposing sports team, roughly translated as, but what the heck did you come here for?

Oasi della Birra, Piazza Testaccio, 39/40, 06 574 6122:  Outside seats on the piazza, inside is a maze between stacks of bottles, downstairs is a pleasantly divey little space.  Some beers on tap, but an incredibly extensive bottle list.  Also a large selection of cured meats, cheeses, bruschetta, pasta and more.

Open Baladin, Via degli Specchi, 6 (near Campo de’ Fiori), 06 683 8989: A giant wall of beer greets you when you enter this place, and it also has a good selection of beer on tap. And, good cheeseburgers and snacks!
