The most common ways for tourists to travel to Stuttgart are by air or by train. If arriving by air, the closest airport to the city is the Stuttgart Airport (STR) located in Leinfelden-Echerdingen, about eight miles outside of the city proper. The airport services all major European carriers as well as most US carriers. Their website is available in German and English and all flight information can be found there. In addition to flight information the airport's website also provides information on ground transportation, airport services, and baggage claim.
For airport transfers, taxis are waiting at the airport or you could pre-book a taxi with Talixo or a limousine with myDriver or Blacklane.
If traveling to Stuttgart by train, travelers will arrive at the city's central train station, located downtown in the heart of the shopping district. The train station and its surrounding area are quite welcoming to visitors with their many shops and cafes. Taxis and public transportation are both available at the train station.
If arriving in Stuttgart by car, driving directions and maps are available at the Tourist Board's route planner page.
