On a business trip. Stayed for 5 days. Well located, for business, in the middle of the island. Very friendly staff. Mediocre breakfast and dinner. Very nice roof garden with view, drinks and shisha. Safe neighborhood with places to drink coffee and eat.

The client Sid8in called the reception and complained on 13 January 2018 that his suitcase was broken into and USD 1000 was missing. The Front Office Manager took this accusation very seriously and called the police to the hotel who conducted a body search of all the housekeeping staffs, including the staff who cleaned the room that day. Their lockers also were searched as well as all the other places where they had access to. The CCTV footage was viewed and later handed over to the police.
We would like to emphasise that the CCTV footage did not show any suspicious action whatsoever. The hotel has done everything in its capacity to resolve this serious accusation but the police did not find any incriminating evidence against the said housekeeping staff and released him after 24 hours of interrogation under warning. The case is now in the hand of the police and the hotel management’s priority is to see this case resolved.
We hereby encourage all our guests to use the safe which is placed in the wardrobe in all our rooms for their valuables. It is unfortunate that Mr. Sid8in did not find the necessity to make use of our safe. The guest has given a statement to the police and is aware of all the procedures which are being done with the police and he is still saying that we are taking it lightly. We feel that his comments are highly unfair and unjustified.

We are at your disposal for any information or proof that you may require.

Regards,

General Manager

Stayed in Palms hotel for 6 nights. If you want a good bed for the night, this hotel is good. For everything else, it’s not.

Plus:

Great comfortable bed

The sky bar is nice

Lobby is pleasant.

Reception staff is very pleasant namely Kesaven, Priscilla and Avnish

Negative:

Food in the Royal China restaurant was a disappointment! The sweet and sour fish as well as the chilly beef were below average. Service was a disaster! We were served by Reshma who wasn’t welcoming and we were a little shocked by the number of times she wanted to clear the dishes when we were still eating. She was fairly grumpy and clearly wanted to be done with the service. I wouldn’t like to pay to eat in a place where the food was poor and the service even worse!

Breakfast in the morning - average food. I liked the pancakes but otherwise nothing is ready at 07:00. I had to ask for coffee to get one; the toaster and butter were often in the kitchen and I had to wait around. I also repeatedly had the impression that the staff was annoyed to serve me and that I had come too early. Tissues were often not ready on the table. I had to leave by 07:15 every day and breakfast was unpleasant! The other major pain point in this hotel is that the mugs were dirty (they are lie around from the day before facing upwards and fill up with dirt the next morning). It was hilarious having the cook Alain and another cook openly moan about me being difficult because I requested a clean cup.

The shower cubicle was not clean. I had to get reception to specifically ask housekeeping to clean it the next day. Housekeeping was poor. The bin wasn’t emptied one day. The complimentary bottle of water wasn’t there the next day. The lack of attention on a daily basis was annoying.

Wifi is very slow (but it is available throughout the hotel).

Underground parking has a really steep slope if one has a small car it is an issue.

Another issue - the telephone does not allow outside calls. Reception cannot transfer calls. If one has issues with one’s mobile phone, the landline in the hotel is pretty useless.

New property at qautre bone. Right in the heart of the townnwith a good choice of food options available on the street from KFC to local and Indian food. Food at restaurant is average with poor spread. Room service is average. Rooms are new and location is good. But little expensive compared to the room size, services and location.

Air mauritius cancelled our flight and provided accomodation in this hotel. This place was awful they served us dal and rice in the vegetarian buffet, there was absolute denial when I asked for bread. They had very slow wifi, I just got into this place by accident, maybe it was in my fate.
No breakfast at around 4 am except a packet of bread and butter.
