I was here as part of a Gate 1 Tour (highly recommended tour). The rooms here are very clean and spacious! Since it's on a mountain, walking around the hotel grounds can be like hiking. There is a shuttle that helps to transport people to and from their room and the front desk area.

This hotel is huge and most of it is uphill. Rooms are excessively large but spare of decorations. mainly concrete and some wood. the bathrooms are larger than most rooms in other hotels. Not sure about room service as when we arrived our sheets had "skid marks" and had to be changed. The only real way of getting around is by hotel shuttle,as the slope is quite severe, which is a pain. There is a $$$ restaurant and a $$ cafe. There are 2 eateries nearby which are just OK. The top of the hotels slope is reserved with nature trails, with very good night tours which cost $US30/person. I have heard that the night tours are worthwhile. The town is interesting about a downhill walk of 15-20 mins, the uphill is a bit tough, so a $US2-4 taxi ride is better. there are a couple of cafes in town that make great coffee. And many that have good reasonably prices snacks. The cloud forests and the butterfly/insect zoo are most worthwhile to visit. You can spend most of a day in the cloud forests and at least 3/4 of a day in the butterfly/insect zoo. Supermarkets are not too flash, but you can replenish staples and chocolates. Breakfast only starts at 6.30, which is pretty weird and most tours begin about this time. Management seems to be a little inflexible.

Room tip: choose a room near reception.

The hotel was good the staff was very courteous and professional. The view from the rooms are great. The restaurant Laggus was excellent and the other restaurant on site Las Riendas was also very good. Even though we did not have the take advantage of the pool area, it did look very inviting. The only thing that you be aware of is if you located in the upper units you need to rely on a Shuttle service to get you around from your room to any of the amenities.

Unique hotel in Monteverde. Rooms are spacious, beds are super comfy, there was no need for AC thanks to the time of year we traveled - March - almost a little on the cool side. Definitely take advantage of the property shuttle. The walking can be a bit tedious, especially if you forget something in your room. Restaurants on site are great and there’s a cute breakfast restaurant across the street if you’re looking for something besides the buffet. Pool has an amazing view ... but chilly. Also we were fortunate to spot a coati outside our room. We took advantage of the hotel’s partners and booked the coffee, chocolate, sugar cane tour with El Habiche.

At the top of this hotel is the Canopy Trail with Ziplining. There are 10 lines, two hanging bridge, one repelling line, and one Tarzan swing. The runs are 400, 600 and 800 meters long. We had a fabulous time. The people who guided us where friendly, knowledgeable, made us laugh and gave us confidence. Price was reasonable.
