We initially booked a standard room. Upon arriving at the hotel we made use of the underground secure car park which was good - but found out that it was an additional 15 Euros which was not mentioned in the booking !

The standard room we were given was clean but very very basic. It was very old fashioned and looked like a communist commune ! We took one look and decided to upgrade for 10 Euros.

The upgraded room was much nicer. It was better decorated with better fixtures and fittings and comfy beds. However the room was boiling ! It was over 30 degrees outside and felt even hotter inside. There was no air conditioning and we weren't told about fans being available !

There were no tea or coffee making facilities and even though the room looked out onto a courtyard, it was quite noisy. Also in the morning the building work started on the rest of the hotel.

As we were so hot, we went for a walk and only got so far before turning back. This was at night time - there were a lot of Turkish men hanging around outside shops and take aways in large groups, as well as Romany Gypsies going through the bins in various areas. There was rubbish out everywhere on the street. We felt very unsafe and felt watched as we walked, so we turned back and returned to the hotel.

During the day, the area is much safer. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the city centre, along quiet streets.

The big plus for the hotel was the cleanliness as it was very clean.

We were very disappointed with what we got for our stay as we paid around 100 Euros in total for a basic room with no additional amenities, no air conditioning and not the best area. We wouldn't stay here again as it was a bit of a rip off !

Room Tip: Avoid the standard rooms as they are very poorly decorated !

Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff, fantastic breakfast. Stayed here for two nights with kids and they had a brilliant time as it's right next to a playground! The location is fine - it's not right in the centre of the old town - you have to pay more for that! But we walked just 10-15mins to the centre and 5min to the metro, and the comfort and price more than made up for that. We ate on evening in the hotel(fantastic) and once in town.

We stayed in a premium room which was nice decor, good bathroom and clean.
We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was nice and reasonably priced.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was absolutely boiling hot as it was 30c outside. The first night we 'slept' with the window open but the noise from the street kept us awake. The next day we asked for a fan which we never turned off for the remainder of our stay.

The big issue I had with the hotel was the location. If you want to walk from the centre to the hotel it's ok (as we found out on the second day) but if you want the metro the nearest one is continuing in the direction away from the centre and this area gets very dodgy. I didn't like it during the day but coming back early evening before our meal was even worse. We came out the wrong side of the metro and had to walk a little to get back to the main road - this part in particular was awful and I really didn't feel safe. This put me off going back out for a meal so we ate in the hotel.

The parking is a little pricey (15 euros a day) but it's in and underground private garage so for this hotel it's well worth it as I would not have left the car on the street!

If I were to come to Brussels again I would pay a little more and look for a better location.

Stayed in the hotel for a weekend very central to the city centre and the train station. staff very friendly. And most of the downstairs very nice and modern. Rooms very dated with a very small TV no air conditioning but I do have to say very clean with a free safe

Stayed here for 2 nights (Monday and Tuesday)

Car parking and city tax came to 30€ which was quite expensive I thought.

The hotel itself is nice - the decor downstairs did not reflect the much more dated upstairs. Everywhere was clean enough, but it needed some TLC.

It was around 30C outside, so we asked for a fan because it was so hot. The young lad on reception unplugged his fan he was using and gave it to us for the duration of our stay (and it never went off!) so we couldn’t grumble about the lack of air conditioning.

Unfortunately it was the area that has let the rating down. Outside is smelly, dirty and could be seen as a little intimidating to some people, due to lots of large groups of adults sitting on the curb-sides, down alleys and walking down the street. There was so much litter and garbage bags/sacks on the pavement which was sometimes an obstacle to navigate around on the pavements.

Short 15 min walk to the main centre which was fine for us.

Our first impressions of Brussels was not as good as we had hoped due to this area, but after spending 2 days here we know it was just the area of the hotel.

If you want somewhere cheaper to stay, and prefer to see the sights than stay in your hotel all day, this is a choice.

I think next time we would spend a little more on a hotel in a better location.
