My Husband and I stayed at 4 Porters Court for our honeymoon. It is the second time we have stayed at this gorgeous property. We loved it so much the first time that we promised we would return for our honeymoon and it did not disappoint. The place is beautifully styled and has a really relaxed feel. The beach (5 minutes walk) is nothing less than paradise, and is the home of the famous Lone Star restaurant. Another of our top tips is Sunday lunch at the Cliff Beach Club for live music. We will be back again soon, third times a charm! Thanks again to our hosts.
I visited Barbados for the second time in June 2019 and it was the best holiday experience. I stayed in a hotel when I first visited the island a few years ago, but the Porters Court villa experience is the way to go! To summarise: 4 Porters Court is home away from home that offers everything you need to enjoy the island.
Villa - the villa itself is a little piece of paradise. Both double rooms (one with a twin option) are spacious, and the en-suite bathrooms have everything you require. After a day at the beach (an 8 minute walk if you are dawdling, looking out for indigenous monkeys and toads, as I was) a hot and powerful shower remedies any aches and pains you picked up trialling the very many watersports on offer (water-skiing with Tony the Tiger, jet-skiing, banana-boating, you name it). The beds are extremely comfortable also. I could have spent the entire two weeks lounging in bed or by the pool, if the island didn’t have so much to offer. The pool area is a private, well-maintained and quiet area which is perfect to catch some rays. The kitchen is fully equipped and the verandah is perfect for serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner. Massey’s supermarket is a short bus journey away (10 mins by bus) where you can pick up all you need (including marmite and the best bread for toasting) so whether it’s omelettes (recommended to be tried with the local pepper sauce - an abundance of options are available) first thing, or an evening away from the vibrance of nearby Holetown cooking fish you caught from the Caribbean or bought from close-by fish markets (barbecuing is a must) - the verandah area is the perfect setting for a family, group of friends or couple to enjoy. Overall, the villa is the perfect sanctuary for relaxation and the ideal base for island exploration.
Travel - the local busses stop just outside the entrance to Porters Court, but if you want to travel further afield, rent a mini-moke from Fat Jacks for a reasonable price and get exploring! I’d recommend travelling East - Bottom Bay to see the wild Atlantic Ocean (a stark contrast to the idyllic Caribbean Sea of the West coast (where the villa is located)), Cherry Tree Hill, the rum plantations, and the Wildlife Sanctuary (go at 2pm which is feeding time). On the way there are many rum shops to stop off at, where cheap rum and friendly locals are aplenty. The very best is Nigel Benn’s aunty’s which is near the Wildlife Sanctuary - Aunty Benn will keep you entertained while you sip a rum and ginger beer.
Restaurants - on a Sunday go to the Cliff Beach Bar to enjoy great food and live music, and also check out nearby Fish Pot (best tuna I’ve had), Papa Earl (local roti seller In Holetown) and Cutters (a sandwich place near Bottom’s Bay where you can try their famous flying fish cutter with their famous pepper sauce - to die for!)
Stayed No. 4 Porters Court. Villa had lots of space, plenty of cutlery ect, Well placed for touring the island. All four of us (adults) enjoyed our stay and have no hesitation in recommending the villa. All was exactly as described and we would all like to thank Richard and Angela.
What a fabulous 10 night stay my friends and I had. The villa is set in a small gated community with a small gate at the end which leads to a short walk to the beach. The villa was spotless and felt so homely, it was very well equipped and a few steps from a swimming pool that was hardly used by the other villas felt like we had the place to our selves most days.
Had a fantastic stay and would recommend this wonderful villa to everyone I would defiantly book again.
We loved our stay in this home! I have a 10 and 13 year old and both loved the pool and quick walk to the beach.
We found our home centrally located on the West coast was close to everything we wanted! Town was about 1 mile away. Our new favorite beach was a half mile north of the home. We walked to restaurants bars and beaches.
The home is clean and comfortable and we loved the option of the A/C in the bedrooms.
We will definitely stay again!
