We booked a room with breakfast on Boxing Day. This was confirmed when we checked in and they told us that breakfast was until 9:30 (later than usual because of the fact it was the festive period I guess). We got down there at 9am and were told the chef had left. The receptionist was super-rude making out that this was a real inconvenience for us and then after some discussion agreed to refund the breakfast price. Upon check-out, she literally changed her mind and said that the rate hadn't included breakfast (in spite of having confirmation the day before as well as when we made the phone booking and our rate being 30 more than another guest who was with us). I asked her to speak to the person from the day before and was dismissed with a 'we'll call you back once we've checked'... which clearly they never bothered to do... I wish I'd not paid in advance!

Our friends live in Denshaw and they were fuming and have assured us that they'll be spreading the word! My only advice would be to make sure you don't pay until after your stay!!! Shame really as the rest of the place was really nice and comfy beds. I don't mind mistakes but just being rude and not bothering to investigate their mistake is basically acting pious while stealing.

My family booked here for a surprise 30th birthday meal. What can I say, it was fantastic. We had our own little room. The staff were really accommodating, changing the menus around for us. They couldn’t do enough for us, the food was beautiful too. Thank you for the lovely experience and we will surely see you again!

I cannot thank Tony and his family enough for last nights party it was amazing from start to finish everything was first class and we had the best time. Ten out of ten for everything you worked so hard for us! X

Had an amazing weekend in Oldham and the reception we received couldn’t of been friendlier. Family owned with great local knowledge. If your in the bar ask to play “cross the river”! Amazing rooms with comfortable beds and a great view over the moors.

A pleasant, welcoming small hotel about half a mile up the hill from the village of Denshaw. Its smart decor and furnishings give it a light, contemporary feel which will appeal to the wedding parties and other functions in which it obviously specialises. We enjoyed our few days here taking in the annual Whit Friday Saddleworth brass band contests. Our room was well appointed and comfortable. There is ample parking, good homely solid cooking (with perhaps emphasis on the “solid”) and a pleasant lounge bar.

One point to be aware of, though, is that it has a modern key card system. On our last morning we were toing and froing between our room and car to load up and at one point had to go back to the room a few (5-10?) minutes after the official checkout time only to find that the key card had been automatically invalidated. This meant traipsing back down to Reception to find no one there. The episode irritatingly delayed our departure unnecessarily. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed at where the electronic locking system applied the checkout time so strictly.

However, that does not seriously detract from what was a positive experience at the Clough Manor overall.
