Review:
The food was of stellar quality. I have to admit that I had spent the day skiing so I was hungry, but still, the second I put the first spoonful of that mushroom soup into my mouth all my taste buds connected with my brain. It was so good that I actually shed a few tears. There was a slight hint of truffle at the back but it was not overpowering, which is a sign of delicate hands working at the kitchen. My friend had the wild boar buns for starters and claimed that it was the same experience for him. The main courses and desserts did not disappoint either. The fat on the pork was beautifully rendered and the meat was super tender. You could actually tear it apart with a spoon. Risotto had crisp acidity to it and the texture was perfect. Desserts were so delicious that you wanted to lick the plates clean. Kids devoured their food with good appetite as well.
The final touch was given by the service. Wine recommendations were spot on and you could actually find new flavours both from the wine and food. Both were great alone but tasted even better when combined. In my experience this is rather rare. I've been to many fancy restaurants where the recommended wines actually were not that good of a match with the cuisine because either one was dulled by the other, and I'd rather enjoyed them separately.
Verdict:
Aurora Estate serves honest and delicious food. Maybe it is not of Michelin level fancy because the dishes are simpler and portions bigger, but when it comes to quality and flavour, Aurora Estate easily beats most big city restaurants. It is not the cheapest restaurant at the area but value is excellent.
