From the time we were picked up at the airport to the time we left we were in the caring hands of the entire staff at Papillon. This resort is small and so getting refreshments at the bars or food at the restaurants was quick. Food at the buffet was plentiful, tasty and diverse every day. We also tried the Chinese twice! Thank you for the extra chicken wing appetizer! Although the food was also good at the Italian restaurant we didn't feel the staff cared much what we thought about the food or service and so we chose not to return. Our room was on the second floor in the 500's which could have been noisy on weekends but we were spared with going over Easter . The room was cleaned and supplies replenished daily. Security are around the resort 24 hours to ensure your safety although I never felt that the locals were in any way trying to get on the resort for any reason. I enjoyed the quite in the lobby early each morning sipping coffee and playing my guitar before most people were even awake. My wife and I enjoyed walking the beach and swimming in the designated safe area also. The town is only a block away for shopping.

Room Tip: Get a Sea View Room

On February 26th to March 5th my wife "Joy" myself and my sister "Robynne" vacationed at Papillon by Rex Resort. We got a very good price through Air Canada vacations, but on looking at the reviews I was beginning to wonder!!!?? Boy, were the reviews totally wrong!!! This place is a GEM, yes it is smaller then most, but that is what makes it so great. The staff always greeted you with a smile and a Good morning, afternoon or evening and bent over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. All of the rooms, except the bottom 2 floors in the 500 block are ocean view ( the two floors are blocked by the buildings in front of them, not making them complete sea view ) and yes ear plugs help with the town noise in the 500 block. The rooms have all been updated with comfy beds and refurbished washrooms and the maid service is fantastic.(tips help too)
We had no complaints with the quality of the food, but because this a smaller resort the selection was not always there but the volume was at the buffet, so no need to go hungry Also the Italian restaurant was fantastic with a good variety of choices (we ate there twice) Do not miss out on the beach grill,It was great fish & chips, good hamburgers, wraps chips and onion rings, we ate lunch there most every day.
All of the bars served a large variety of drinks including cocktails,Piton beer, and their own brand of cocktails and they weren't stingy on the alcohol!! Thumbs up to all of the bartenders.Do not miss out on the roof top bar, a great spot to relax with friends, a great bartender, and watch the sunset Again I have to say, it is the staff that makes this resort such a
GEM.
Due too the two hurricanes in the fall and the wild wave action, the beach took a bit of a beating, but we were told it will return to its nice gentle slops in time. Taking about beach for a fantastic massage do not pass up Spenser on the beach, Joy and Robynne say he is to die for!! Do go into the town Rodney Bay which is just outside the resort,it is safe, the people greet you with a Hello and are friendly Also I suggest touring the Pitons, to see the sulphur pits and mud baths traveling there either by bus or catamaran. You will also get a free bonus if you go by bus, of driving through the rain forest, oh you also go through the rain forest coming and going to the airport as there are no straight roads in St Lucia, but many mountains
In closing, do not miss out on this GEM of a resort or the fantastic landscape and people of St Lucia. I know we will be back soon!!!

Dear Paul R,

Thank you for your "wonderful!" review on the Papillon.
I am very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and would come back. We are indeed on one of the most beautiful beach in St Lucia and within walking distance of the Rodney Bay village and all its amenities making us a central destination. I am glad that you experienced the The mud baths and got to see the Pitons which is one of the sites in the south of the island.
Your compliment of the team members were passed on and we all are looking forward to your next visit.
Once, again thank you for choosing the Papillon and we look forward to your return so we can roll of the red carpet for you.

We chose this resort due to the all-inclusive package and the relatively agreeable price, so take this review for what it is worth. The resort itself, like the entire island, is beautiful. Picturesque views of the ocean and Pigeon Island. The resort is cozy; that is to say, do not expect much to do. For a nice, relaxing time, this is your place. At night, the staff try to get the guests to join in some old school dancing, but it comes across more like a Sweet 16 routine. Other resorts I have stayed at have shows at night, but overall, this did not detract from our stay. Honestly, if anything, it forced us to explore this wonderful island, which I cannot recommend more highly.

The food, like most all-inclusives, is average, but again the staff make every effort to accommodate your tastes. Once night there was a bar-be-cue theme, which was by far the best selection. the daytime meals are what you expect from a buffet, and I would highly recommend that you look to the island's vast outside sources of locally grown fruit and local favorite; kasava bread.

Overall, lovely stay and I would recommend it to others

Great place - we wanted a smaller site, as we do not like the large ones. Really nice site, staff friendly and helpful, most with a smile. One draw back was the depth of the pool - one shallow depth. Other comments that I read prior to going about the music noise - I can understand, as Rodney bay is the Friday night party town, but in no way did it have any effect on our holiday.

Room Tip: We ask for a quite room and got a sea view ! Room was away from the pool, and was quite

Dear Teresa Collins,

Thank you for having chosen us while staying in St. Lucia. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay
Experiences and satisfaction such as yours provide such encouragement to our team and so it is very good to hear that you were able to enjoy our services and experience the Papillon hospitality.
As you rightfully mentioned the noise is coming from a bar nearby, we have as one can expect reported it to the owners, local and tourism authorities as this may be a concern to some of our guests. The resort is located on one of the most beautiful beach in St. Lucia but also close to the Rodney bay nightlife. We are happy that you did not allow the noise from deterring from enjoying your stay with us.

Once, again thank you for choosing the Papillon by Rex Resorts and we look forward to welcoming you back in the not to distant future

As with other people you don’t want to be in 500 block of standard rooms. Not the resorts fault the property behind is public and they can’t control the noise at night. Moved to a quieter Room In the 100s. Staff was quite friendly especially Elfrieda in the sunset bar at night and Vernon in the swim up pool bar. Mr M. One of the managers was quite friendly and helpful. The selection in the buffet wasn’t large but the food was fresh. Also liked the Italian and Chinese. Food was fresh and hot staff friendly. This is not 5* and they don’t try to be just friendly at a good price. The worst part of the whole trip was the airport, not set up to handle the volume at peak times. Stood in line 2 and 1/2 hours to clear inspection and then straight on to the plane.
