We arrived absolutely soaking wet after battling driving rain all day on St Cuthberts way. Our hosts managed all our wet things and seemingly miraculously got them dry in a short time! We were shown our bedroom, and sitting room, and a tray of afternoon tea. It couldn't have been more welcome or appreciated.
Breakfast the next morning was also superb.
Thank you so much for such a welcoming stay- we really appreciated it.

Although our stay was very brief, we would like to thank the owners - Margaret and Don - for their hospitality and for a great experience. We loved our spacious room and the comfortable bed, the views over Northumberland, the very warm welcome, the reception from the two of them like we were already great friends :) The breakfast - worlds apart from any other b&b we've stayed in, thank you Don! As we experienced this culinary delight we were in the presence of an American couple who were taking in all of the wonders and delights of the area (walking from Lowick to Holy Island that very day!) We witnessed first hand the fountain of Northumberland knowledge that Don is, giving the best hints and tips of how to make the most of their time here in this amazing landscape. We learnt a lot in a very short time! We were so very impressed by everything, even in the brief time we had due to the nature of our visit and what we had planned. Thank you once again to the lovely owners, we both hope we get to stay with you again (and get to hear the stories we missed out on Margaret! - a drink in the Bull next time?!) :)

Sorry for delay but only just mastered Trip,Advisor! It is two years since we visited this Band B. One of the best we have ever come across. Luxury accommodation. Large comfortable bedroom and en-suite and a delightful PRIVATE sitting room. Tea and home-made cakes served every day. Breakfasts, home-made bread and first class varied menues. Little homely and welcome touches in the bedrooms. Margaret and Don always ready for a chat. A commendable evening meal can be found at one of the local pubs. It all makes the holiday go with a swing.

2 days wasn't long enough! Its more than a B&B. Don & Margaret are the perfect hosts. They provide their guests with luxury accommodation - en suite bedrooms and private sitting rooms. This beautiful residence is in the perfect location for exploring the Northumberland countryside. We had a warm welcome on our arrival with home made sandwiches, cake and tea/coffee. The breakfast is something to be experienced....amazing. Anything you fancy is provided in abundance - cereal, muesli, porridge, yogurt, fresh fruit, full English (cooked to perfection!), home made jam and marmalade to accompany the home made bread and toast....anything you want is there for you. On leaving we were given a lovely packed lunch of delicious sandwiches and cakes for your journey home. Thank you again Margaret & Don we will definitely be back and we are recommending you already to friends and family!

Room Tip: All the rooms are fabulous!

We stayed in Burn House for one night while walking St Cuthbert's Way . The previous night we had a terrible experience with our accommodation, so to arrive after a long day's walk to Don and Margaret's welcome was a big relief. It started with tea and home-made cake in the private sitting room, progressed to sharing our common interests in books and ended with the best breakfast on my 6 week visit the UK. Even after one night we felt we were leaving friends. The rooms were very comfortable, with extra touches such as a sprig of lavender on the fresh towels, a bowl of chocolates in each room and a little hand-made "walkers bag" on a hook with blister plasters, antiseptic cream and other things which was very thoughtful.

I understand they have won prizes for their breakfasts, and I can easily believe it. The bread was home-made, the eggs free range and the herbs from the garden. You ate in the kitchen, with Don standing at the stove so he started the eggs when you had finished your fruit, not before. He also did the toast and coffee at the right time, so everything was hot and fresh just as you wanted to eat. It was a truly wonderful experience.
