This was our 2nd three night stay over the New Year period. The accommodation is top quality first class. George and Gillian are wonderful hosts who go out of their way to make sure your stay is a great experience. Make sure you order dinner in the beautiful dining room and experience Gillians wonderful food and Georges service at table. also take their advice on the local attractions. There is plenty to do and see around Balingup and surounding areas over more than a 1 night stay.

Room Tip: There are only 2 rooms and both are top quality

We stayed in the Maslin suite, one of two in the cottage. It was well presented, with a large bedroom/ lounge, separate walk in robe/kitchenette and a large bathroom, with spa bath. Although the suite has a kettle for making tea or coffee, there isn't a toaster or any appliance to prepare an evening meal. When enquiring we were informed "this is a B&B".

The decor was upmarket, early 20th century. Lighting was adequate but, being in the middle of a cold, wet winter, the room was cold, despite the gas (faux wood fireplace) heater, which we found difficult to turn off without getting burnt and there was no air-conditioner. However, the bed had electric blankets.

Breakfasts were good as was dinner, but you must pre-order dinner.

You must remember to take your shoes off prior to entering your suite. Our hosts also have a cat that normally resides in the kitchen. However, as my wife dislikes cats and animals inside, the cat was confined to the owners' rooms while we were out of ours.

Being close to the highway, there was a lot of traffic noise, especially in the mornings. It may pay to request the suite furthest from the highway.

Room Tip: Try for the suite furthers from the highway to minimise road noise

Thank you for your feedback sorry that you did not find everything to your liking, no we do not provide toasters or cooking facilities in the room we are a bed & Breakfast and us such supply and cook the meals for house guests. In regard to requesting what people would like in advance if we do not know what people would like for dinner we would not be able to prepare it.

Sorry that your wife did not like our beloved cat Ginger who has been an icon at the Blackwood Inn for the past 20 years and dearly loved by our patrons. In the interest of maintaining our standards for future house guests to enjoy we do request house guests to remove their shoes prior to entering the guest room to minimise wear and tear particularly when guests are wearing muddy boots & shoes, you are the only person in 22 years to complain. Also it was pity you did not advise us in advance that you had a large camper trailer we would not have accepted the booking as you certainly chewed up our front lawn.

What a treat this place is. We stayed here in July for one night for a winter escape. Priot to arriving we knew we could potentially have dinner here, cooked by Gill & George themselves. Upon seeing the menu for this (sent in advance) we couldn't resist. My steak was, without a doubt, THEE best steak I have ever had. It was sensational. My partner had the duck which too was just divine - as was our shared starter of smoked salmon, and shared dessert of Jamacian bananas (fantastic!). Our room was beautiful. A four-poster bed, with a gas fire in the lounge area. We also had a large walk in dressing room, complete with robes and also a fridge, tea & coffee sachets and facilities, fresh milk, sugar and sink area. Here we found homemade ginger biscuits as well as a token from George & Gill. Our bathroom had a huge spa corner bath, as well as very powerful shower. Was absolutely beautiful. A hairdryer was supplied also. Just absolutely magnificent and worth Every. Single. Cent. that we paid. I don't want to let the secret out, but I would encourage anybody to not hesitate for a second to book staying here!

We stayed at the Innkeepers House for one night late June 2017. The accommodation was fantastic, huge room with sitting area and gas log fire (beautiful!). Huge bathroom with great spa bath. Everything was fantastically clean and spacious. In the room there was coffee and a selection of teas plus Gillian had made homemade cookies for us! (Thank you). Breakfast next morning was first class, everything we could have wanted. Overall a lovely relaxing stay. We would definitely return. Thank you Gillian.

We stayed at the Innkeeper's cottage for three nights in Feb 2017 for my partner's birthday. The first thing we noticed was how cool the room was with no aircon an ceiling fan was in the room and all that was required. The next was how incredibly neat and clean every aspect of the property was. I have to say I think this was the cleanest place we have ever stayed. We stayed in the Davenport Suite. Beautiful decor, comfortable 4 poster bed, comfortable lounge suite, roomy dressing room with small bar fridge and sink etc and a well appointed bathroom with spa (which we didnt get round to using... sad face). Our room was made up on a daily basis too. Breakfast each morning was great. Peaches, yoghurt and/or cereal, full English or scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. And toast (gluten free for me) with home made jams. We were also very touched that my partner received a birthday card from George Gillian and Ginger ( the cat). We ate in for the birthday boy's dinner. The food- all cooked by Gillian- was superb. A complimentary bottle of wine from nearby vineyard Barrecas, was part of the booking deal and quite delightful. The glass of Barrecas Muscat was a birthday treat, and was also lovely. Location was very good too... not far from Donnybrook, Balingup, Bridgetown, Bunbury etc. Can't recommend highly enough.

Room Tip: Davenport is furthest from the road, but thick walls mean road noise is minimal anyhow.
