Stopped into this store on a holiday weekend recently and was pleasantly surprised by its atmosphere and inventory. You can find everything from freshly baked goods to frozen meals, sandwiches, regular groceries and used books. It also has a lovely little liquor store with a nice selection of wines and there is a small eat in or take out restaurant area. I tried their homemade brown bread, which was excellent and their butter tarts which were quite good. Hoped to have their fish and chips on a Sunday night only to find that they weren't serving food as it was a slow day and there were no other restaurant customers. This spot is a must see if you are in the area - it is quite unique.

We visited the Rose Bay General Store twice in October on our way to and from Hirtles Beach. It is a lovely store, with a good selection of food and general items. It has a nice seating area at the front if you want to eat there. We will definitely return on our next visit to Nova Scotia and Hirtles Beach.

This was a place we visited often, to get fresh bread, stop for our morning coffee, pick up a lunch to go, and quite often just to browse. Great atmosphere and very friendly people

After reading about this unique spot in Trip Advisor my wife and I decided to try it out for some fish and chips which were rated highly by previous visitors. We were not disappointed and enjoyed our meal greatly in the pleasant surroundings of an operating General Stote with many features of past history bur with modern updates including the eating area which was nicely but modestly appointed. The service was great and very friendly. We looked around the store before our meal and it contained an area for beer ,wine and spirits and any supplies you might need to go to Beautifull Hirtles Beach nearby. Also had fresh baked goods and we purchased package of Cranberry scones to take home . They were absolutely delicious. While there also enjoyed nice glass of house wine. Highly recommend this unique spot.

Whether taking the scenic route to Lunenburg or on our way to Hirtle's Beach this is a must stop for a drink, a snack, or stay for a home cooked meal. It truly represents the name General Store. Love it.
