Had 2 great Pacific Whale trips this weekend. First the dinner cruise out of Lahaina on the Ocean Discovery. Wonderful evening, great food and service and live music. Just beautiful.
Second the Whale Watch on the Freedom Raft. IF YOU ARE GOING ON A WHALE WATCH YOU HAVE TO GO ON A RAFT!! What a difference, the whales are so close to you, they go under the raft and come up right in front of you! The raft is the way to go. Great Whale Watch and Dinner Cruise, Thanks Pacific Whale

We went on a two hour whale watch yesterday afternoon. The crew was excellent. Someone sat with my 7 and 9 year old with whale models and provided them about 5 minutes of education about whales. We were on one of the large boats and it was very nice. Saw plenty of whales and spinner dolphins.

We had two great experiences with the Pacific Whale Foundation. The first was a "Molokini Wild Side" snorkeling trip. The two snorkeling spots were great - lots of fish and several turtles. The boat used on this particular trip is small - only about 40 people, and heads out past the reef for a scenic view of lava flows down the volcano. Be aware that the surf can get choppy in this small boat, and if you're prone to sea-sickness you might want to take precautions.

The second trip was a sunrise whale watching trip, which was also fantastic. The crew did a great job of steering us toward close sightings and providing information about the whales and their habits. Another bonus - PWF is a non-profit, and all ticket sales go toward research and conservation.

Overall it was a great experience. I did think it was a bit pricey and the boat is big with lots of people. The staff did seem very knowledgeable and helpful in pointing out where the whales were located. I would recommend this company if you are wanting a mild and relaxing cruise.

We did a whale watch close to sunset hours with Pacific Whale Foundation last January in Maui . The operation was good. Their boats are really impressive catamarans, and the whole operation is very organized. Boat driver was very aware of close-by whales and the highlight of the tour was the mic drop in the water, to hear the whales "conversation". Environmental message was clear and biologist/guide explained patiently every single question people had. For such large operation, this is a plus. Thought the drinks in the boat were a little pricey, though.
