Hey folks! This is not really a hotel or lodge or pensionne at all. It's part of the Leyte Normal University's (LNU) hotel and restaurant mangagment career course. It seems to exist solely to give students some practical experience to get their degrees. But the place is like a monastery with tiny and spartan rooms, like you'd find in a seminary. I suspect the place really exists just to give free housing to visiting professors to the college.
I happened to visit it because I was doing a survey of lodges in Tacloban. I didn't know the city and so a friend's daughter volunteered to take me around town. As soon as I entered the LNU House I stepped to the reception desk to introduce myself and state my purpose. But before I could finish speaking the old bag behind the counter immediately accused me of playing diddle daddle with a young Filipina, the daughter of my friend who quietly sat on a bench at the entrance. I tried to remain calm and restated my purpose and she finally allowed one of the student interns to show me around the place. It was empty. . . and should remain empty. If you're a White man or any man, just stay out of this ugly and insulting place.More
