“Blissful break”
Reviewed 27 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Great setting for a much-needed getaway! Beautiful surroundings with therapeutic views as a previous correspondent said. Nice and spacious cottage with lots of natural light coming through. There is wifi connection for when you need to connect to the internet but the only problem was that it's hard to make a phone call for when you want to order a takeout. The only recommendation I would make is that some - but not all! - of the crockery looked like it needed a clean.

We are sorry to hear that your stay at Brown Bread Cortage was not perfect, as this is always our aim. The telephone reception is unfortunately outside of our control as the whole of the Edale Valley, and indeed much of the Peak District, has poor mobile coverage. We hoped that by making our home landline available to you that this would assist with this problem.
All of the crockery in the cottage is checked between stays and put through a dish washer. If this issue had been mentioned during your stay then we would of course taken immediate action. We aim to provide the very best service for our guests and so we are extremely disappointed that you feel that your stay only warranted a four star review.

“Warm, welcoming cottage”
Reviewed 15 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Stayed at Brown Bread cottage in February 2016. It's a lovely cottage in a lovely setting. Crista, the owner, made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable and we had tea, coffee, some tasty biscuits, milk and loads of logs for the wood burner all ready and waiting for us. We took our two dogs who were welcomed and it was ideally placed for great walks.
We would definitely stay at the cottage again, and recommend it to anyone wishing to visit Edale and the Peak District.

“Perfect cosy cottage with everything you need”
Reviewed 17 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

The cottage is very tastefully decorated and felt extremely cosy in cold December with the fireplace (logs provided), comfy sofas and large DVD collection. The shower was powerful and warm which was perfect after a long walk/run and the beds were very comfortable and with extra blankets provided. There was plenty of space for 4 of us to stay for 10 days and not feel crowded. Edale is a such a sweet little village and a lovely walk away from the cottage to the activity centre/coffee shop/pub. Andre and Crista are very welcoming and friendly hosts and provide a lot of information in the cottage about to what to do in the area. Thank you for having us, we will be back!

“An 'almost hidden' Gem!!”
Reviewed 7 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We stayed at the cottage the first weekend in December and it was an absolute treat! Right from the booking confirmation (which also included very detailed instructions as to how to find the cottage and order details for the local bakery.... which was too yummy!) through to us arriving to a lovely welcome basket!
I think the owners are fairly new to the property, however you would not guess this at all, they were really welcoming and let us know where everything was (this was even when we were a little lost - neither of us is very good at reading directions! - hence the 'almost hidden' title!)
The cottage has absolutely everything you would need, even with two young children. We loved the lovely log burner - made it a very cosy family stay!
You are literally a few minutes away from Castleton which was our reason for the visit, it is a family tradition to see the Christmas lights and staying locally meant this was a much more leisurely trip.
Another added bonus was the fact that the Indian restaurant delivered to the cottage - saved us leaving the cosy fire!
All in all we had a fantastic time and will certainly back for another helping of 'Brown Bread' in 2016. Full marks - thanks Crista and Andre x
