Big and beautiful botanical garden - mostly consisting of different trees and palms and not so much flowers.
We went on a guided tour (50 rupees/person) which was good - otherwise we wouldn't have know anything about the different trees, smelled the leaves etc. The tour was about an hour. Afterwards you can walk around on your own, if you want to. And of course you have to see the big water lillies!

The gardens and the trees are really interesting the guide was really good, but the both of the toilets I attempted to use where shocking. So if you plan to go here which I would advise it is really good but used the bathrooms somewhere else. For such a tourist attraction they are disgraceful. Also some advise we where here in the morning time and was bitten a few times so mosquito spray before going in and enjoy

We saw giant lily, white lotus and special palm which was amazing for a non tropical resident.
You dont need a guided tour, 1 hour is enough for a comprehensive walk within the garden.

We spent an excellent couple of hours in these wonderful botanical gardens. Although you can walk around the grounds on your own it is much better to go round with a guide. They are extremely knowledgeable and the cost is only 100 Mauritian Rupees, about £2.50 which is great value.
There were about 7 or 8 in our group including some Dutch and some Germans. The guide was able to explain things in each language.
The guide, a fairly large gentleman, was a real character and seemed to take great pleasure in making fun of some of our group. A Mauritian Basil Fawlty.
The gardens contain many varieties of plants and trees including a "bleeding tree" which the guide demonstrated.
There is a beautiful plantation house in the gardens which is currently undergoing restoration.
This is definitely worth a visit. With any luck you might get the same guide we had!

Recently visited this place with my husband because it was a place of interest to us . Read reviews of what other people said .all sounded positive so we went ahead ready for a great morning out . What a total let down . The place was dirty . Loads of diseased trees. Was expecting botanical flowers and shrubs didn't see any at all . Giant water lille was poor and withered unlike picture on Web page . Not worth 200 ruppees to enter it . Got back to car in their own car park to be faced with beggar asking for money . All in all very disappointing day out .
