We spent a week at the end of June at Flint Cottage to be near family in Bury St Edmunds. Our 2 sons aged 21 and 16 came with us, and the cottage was perfect for all of our needs. The cottage is lovely with 2 bedrooms upstairs, and the kitchen and bathroom downstairs. There is also a utility room with a washer dryer. The boys enjoyed having a large smart TV with sound bar and access to Netflex, Now TV etc.
The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need. The bathroom has a large bath with a very good shower over it. Having mobility difficulties, I did find the stairs a little difficult to use as they curve round as they go up, which is something to be aware of if you have a lot of difficulty using stairs, but I was able to manage them and this wouldn't put me off staying there again. The beds are very comfortable, and there was a wash hand basin in the twin room. There is also a small front garden area with garden table and chairs and I enjoyed sitting out there in the sun.
The cottage is situated on a main road, and there was usually space to park on the road close to the cottage. There is also a free car park round the back of the cottage. There is a dedicated accessible bay directly outside the cottage which I found really useful being a blue badge holder.
The cottage is really close to local amenities including an Aldi and Boots in walking distance. There was a nice pub a few doors down and even a bowling alley with a cafe which the boys enjoyed.
While there, we visited Brandon Country Park and High Lodge at Thetford Forest which has lots of fun playground equipment the adults could play on (as well as Go Ape). We also went to the viewing area at RAF Lakenheath to watch the planes take off.
Booking was very easy, and the owner Jeremy was very helpful, especially when we had to cancel and rebook a different week which we were able to do without any issues.
Now we have discovered this cottage, we hope to stay there again when we come to visit my family.
Short 5 day break in this cottage was really nice. Was clean and tidy and had no problems parking outside the house. 2 mins from town centre. Wasnt expecting the road outside to be so busy but didnt bother our sleep as long as the windows were closed.
This cottage is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful Suffolk countryside & Thetford Forest. We were easily able to park outside the cottage each day and the cottage was incredibly comfortable, with everything you could need. Technology was a real bonus and we were able to watch three great films on Netflicks whilst we were there. We were impressed to see that a set of steak knives were provided...this is the first time we have stayed in a cottage containing these! Very cozy comfortable bed, nice bathroom and plenty of space in the utility area for boots, bags etc. We will not consider staying anywhere else when we return to the area and are already planning our next visit.
The cottage was great and in a central location for our planned visits. No blame to the owner but the early morning and evening rush hours were noisy at the front of the cottage - disappointing, therfore an increase in the tv volume was required.
