The owner, Maaike, was incredibly welcoming, helpful and attentive. The house is beautifully renovated (including some original woodwork and tiling) and immaculately clean. The large, fully equipped kitchen goes way beyond the usual built-ins and includes a Miele espresso/coffee machine with grinder. All 3 bedrooms are large with high ceilings, individually heated with radiators and have an ensuite bathroom. The master bedroom has a wide balcony overlooking the backyard. All beds and bedding are comfortable and high quality. One person in our party is allergic to dust and feathers, and had no trouble whatsoever at the house. The decorations are limited, leaving a clean, uncluttered look. We loved having a laundry area conveniently located upstairs near the bedrooms. The house is spacious with a peaceful backyard, even though located within 2 blocks of the town square, main shopping street and restaurants. To one side of the backyard is a small, one room cabin that is a dedicated playroom filled with toys and games for children. We enjoyed playing air hockey and foosball there. Another small building on the other side of the backyard has an upstairs sauna next to an outdoor hot tub. Parking is at a premium in that location and a useful bonus is having gated parking for several cars on the grounds. Our next trip to Tielt will include staying at the Holidayhome Sleutelhuys. If a whole house is not needed or wanted, Maaike also has a number of apartments available next door.

Not only were the owners lovely friendly, helpful and accommodating, the place is superb as well.
Very tastefully renovated studio with a private terrace at the back, we stayed in Jachthoed.
Very centrally located and we got guided to the free parking only a short walk away.
Definitely worth a visit and could well be a base to explore Flanders from for a while.

We stayed at the Sleutelhuys for two nights in June. It was a wonderful place -- very clean, comfortable, and stylish. The proprietors are kind and helpful. We got a tour of the market and some Flemish instruction as well -- bedankt! There is a lovely garden in the back. We had two rooms -- an apartment, which was spacious and had a kitchenette, and our teens stayed in another room down the hall. Both were perfect and very convenient to one another. Tielt is an interesting historical town with good restaurants and is a great base for touring the area. We took the train to Ghent and Bruges -- both about 1/2 hour away. The train station in Tielt has free parking, by the way. It was great to tour during the day, and return via a easy train ride to our peaceful, comfy rooms. We would love to return one day, and would definitely stay at the Sleutelhuys again.
