We stayed here during a weekend excursion to the Northern Albanian Alps and Kosovo from Tirana. It is located in a very small village near the Kosovo border. The rooms are clean and basic. There is a nice shared living/dining space where the hosts served us a very nice breakfast.
There are a few things that fall under the category "This is Albania". This first is GPS driving directions are sometimes wrong. "Google MAPS and/or DRIVING" will take you to a Hospital in a town of Bajram Curri. If you search for the Aste Guesthouse on the main "Google SEARCH" and then hit directions, Google will take you here - go figure! At the end of the road, Park the car and walk to the last house on the alley and you will have arrived.
The second thing is that the electric power to the region was out the night we stayed. The hosts did everything they could to make that not a problem. The rooms are heated with wood-burning stoves, and they provided candles.
All in all, this is a very rustic inn, and it would likely recommend it to a visiting friend.More
