I loved the atmosphere of this cosy small hotel with a hint of history of the old town! I spent there one night with my friend in connected two rooms. Both had an own kitchen and a bathroom. Specious clean rooms with old-fashioned interior design and fresh flowers. I liked the color combination of white and blue. Everything was very clean and tidy.
A market is nearby if you want to cook yourself. Also a few restaurants and cafes are very close. Here you sleep in the very center of the only citta slow town of Finland. And you sleep well, I bet!
This hotel is small family owned resort with many different size accommodations in different buildings. It feels like you would live in a home or maybe visitig grandmas place in the country ;) we cerainly liked is as it was different than usual. If you look for authentic local place to stay, choose this.
Krepelin is a small family owned "apartment hotel". The buildings are from early 19th century, ie. rather old. The buildings are well kept. The apartments are in two annexes to the main building and our consisted of a living room, sleeping alcove with two beds, kitchen and bathroom, ie. like a small home. You could also sit in a sunny inner garden just outside your apartment, The place was clean and well equipped.
No breakfast service was provided, but there was a nice restaurant less than 200m away for breakfast á 10 euro.
To summarize, this was a nice and cosy place, where you could stay for a longer time if needed.
Hotels offer more or less the same facilities wherever one travels but this residence is rather unique. Apart from a vary spacious self catering apartment, rather than room, the hotel contains a museum of local artefacts, a shop containing local handicraft products plus some of historical interest and if you are lucky there can be live music in the courtyard with coffee, sausages and doughnuts offered as refreshment. The location may be a little difficult to find being deep within the city labyrinth but Kristiinakaupunki being such a small and interesting town any resident can provide directions. This is an ideal stopping off point for those travelling along the Bothnian coastal route.
