Close to a typical Thai Buddhist temple, and Lamphun Hospital.
Not far from the ancient city center.
Swimming pool.

I could not find anything in particular at fault with this hotel but you can get better for the fairly high price that you pay. It's clean, posh and modern but the rooms don't have anything special, just the usual standard facilities that you would expect. The swimming pool, which enticed me to book this particular hotel, was not really in swimming condition as it had not been cleaned of falling bugs and leaves, it's also quite small. The breakfast was very limited and I didn't see anything for vegetarians except fruit. The location is quite convenient as it's close to the main area.

I stayed for 1 night in a deluxe double room. The lobby is modern. The room was dated and there were many signs of wear such as old stains and chips to the furnishings, though it seemed reasonably clean. The room size was comfortable. Wood cabinets and a desk, all painted light blue, lined one wall. There were also a TV and a small fridge. The bathroom was slightly cramped. There were substantial water stains and paint damage around the window. The toilet paper holder, oddly, was not within reach of the toilet - maybe not so bad for guys, but annoying for girls. The shower stall had some mildew stains. The shower had hot water.

For breakfast, I had the Thai choice, which was boiled rice soup (khao tom.) It was unfortunately so salty that I had to stop eating it. As most hotels in Thailand provide at least some sliced fruit, this seemed to be a relatively small breakfast.

The hotel is located across the street from Wat Chamathewi, one of the main tourist sites of Lamphun. There are also a 7-11 store and a small Tesco Lotus supermarket very near. A few small restaurants are also on the same street. If you don't have a car, you can hire a cyclo (3-wheeled bicycle) from a stand about 20 meters down on the opposite side of the street. There are also song taeo (trucks) which provide public transportation, but you need to try to flag them down.

This hotel is quite adequate if you need to stay in Lamphun for a night. However, I think it may generally be better to find a hotel in Chiang Mai. In Chiang Mai there are a lot more hotels and a lot more competition for customers, so you can get better value for money in accommodation there than in Lamphun.

The Lamphun Will Hotel describes itself as the Solitaire of Lanna. They are not off the mark. It is a little gem of a hotel in a little town that should be better appreciated. The hotel is located about two clicks west of downtown. This is by no means a negative since it is directly across the street (Chamthewi Rd),from Wat Chamthewi, one of the oldest and best preserved in town. The hotel is spotless, has a helpful staff, nice on site swimming pool and bicycle rental were big positives.
Lamphun deserves at least two days to explore. Bike around in the morning then cool off in the pool in the afternoon.

This is a hotel with good service, but like many Thai hotels the finishing is not as good. The air conditioner works inside the main room ok, but is just outside the bathroom and is generating water overflow into the bathroom.
It is in a convenient location, and no worries for a short stay.
